AUDITIONS!
Auditions for theREP’s Summer Stage Young Acting Company will take place on Monday March 28, 2016!
If you are 12-19 years old and interested in performing come on down and audition!
Auditions will take place at theREP, 111 North Pearl Street, from 3-8pm on Monday March 28, 2016.
SEEKING: 15 to 20 young actors (age 12-19) to play the following roles:
The Hottest Rain by Alex Kelley
Jeremiah (aka Rue) - a teenager struggling to be who she truly is (this character is a male to female transgender character to be played by a male actor)
Mom – wants to, but just does not understand her son Jeremiah
Dad – wants his son to conform to the norm, no exceptions
Pastor Fudge – wants to ‘fix’ Jeremiah
Mitchell - a teenager and Rue’s boyfriend, 100% excepting of who Rue truly is
The Pen and the Sword by Cynthia Folwer
Lenny – a rebellious, tech savvy, witty teenager in her senior year of high school
Principal Cavalier – Lenny’s mother and the principal of Lenny’s school
Alex – Lenny’s best friend and partner in crime (Alex could be a guy or a girl)
Nathan – Lenny’s younger brother who is prone to anxiety attacks, 5th or 6th grader
Police Officer – a police officer
Kübler-Ross by Savannah McClendon
Girl 1 – teenager with a very calm, light presence, she is careful and sensitive
Girl 2 – teenager with a layered and stormy personality
Girl 3 – teenager running thin on patience, she has a tendency to be a ‘firestarter’
Girl 4 – teenager with little to no motivation, she’s rather expressionless
Girl 5 – teenager with a certain ease and grace that fills a room, she can calm a room just by entering it

Nimah Ali – an introverted teenager, she’s shy but believes in goodness
Alayna Khan – a preoccupied teenager, she’s an intellectual and understanding
Carmen Vasquez – a dynamic and persistent teenager, but not always clear
Cole Davenport – a vindictive and conniving teenager, damaged
Brendan Rhys – a sad, confused and afraid teenager
Rebecca Davenport – an analytical and observant teenager who doesn't see the big picture
Mr. Dubois – a teacher and supposed mentor
Tens Ways to Save a Support Group by Jaimie Gaskell
Maggie - Frazzled, over-peppy student counselor who has put her heart and
soul into maintaining the Support Group
Robin- A cursed boy attending the support group solely for a Hershey’s Bar
Rose - An easily aggravated telepath who only hears the thoughts one wouldn’t want anyone else to know
Eleanor - A responsible girl who usually chooses to look on the brighter side
of curses; she is genial and tolerant
Thomas - A boy who speaks English for the audience but gibberish for everyone else
Peter - A very loud boy who is constantly being electrocuted
VIic - Our noble hero with a sassy mouth who makes a lot of mistakes in ten
minutes
Timberland County School District’s 42 Annual Chess Tournament by Brendan Kane
Jim – a misunderstood high school student
Mr. Campbell – the Vice Principal and Head of Disciplinary Arts
Calvin Perry Dermountrous – the goofy host of the chess tournament
Aaron Baxter – high school student in the tournament and a germaphobe
Deborah – high school student in the tournament, she’s rather snotty and believes she is better than everyone else
Members of the Young Acting Company will receive daily classes in: acting, speech for the stage, character development and stage movement from professionals in the field. Members of the company will also be given ample opportunities, including the performances, to show off – and hone – their skills.
All company members are guaranteed at least 2-speaking roles from the 5 winning selections of theREP’s new Young Playwright Contest.
The plays will be professionally produced on theREP’s stage, with costumes, props and a set designed and built by theREP’s staff.
To Audition Please Prepare:
1. A short, 1-minute, monologue.
2. If you can play an instrument, please come prepared to show that ability.
3. If you have a headshot and resume please bring it with you.
4. Those auditioning should also bring the audition sheet (found online at www.capitalrep.org<http://www.capitalrep.org>).

Additional Information
1. Members of theREP’s Summer Stage Young Acting Company will be listed on the Capital Repertory Theatre website.
2. The 4-Week Summer Program will commence July 18, 2016 with performances beginning on August 11, 2016 and ending August 14, 2016.
• Week 1: Theatre Classes.
• Week 2 & 3: Theatre Classes and Rehearsals
• Week 4: Technical Rehearsals and Performances
Tuition for the 4-week program is $960 (Do not let tuition stop you from coming to audition as there are scholarship’s available, applications may be found online at www.capitalrep.org<http://www.capitalrep.org>.)
