The RPI Players Open Calls for Directors and Musical Directors for their
87th Season!
Troy, NY - March 20th, 2016

The RPI Players is seeking Directors for their 298th and 300th shows: The
Mousetrap and Avenue Q. The call for Directors will close on Friday, April
15th.The RPI Players are also seeking a Musical Director for Avenue Q; this
call will close Friday, April 22nd. The RPI Players are a student run
community theatre on the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute campus.

The first mainstage performance is The Mousetrap, written by Agatha
Christie, to be performed November 11th, 12th, 13th, 18th, and 19th of
2016. A group of strangers is stranded in a boarding house during a
snowstorm, one of whom is a murderer. The suspects include the newly
married couple who run the house, and the suspicions in their minds nearly
wreck their perfect marriage. Others are a spinster with a curious
background, an architect who seems better equipped to be a chef, a retired
Army major, a strange little man who claims his car has overturned in a
drift, and a jurist who makes life miserable for everyone. Soon each of
them is revealed and opened up by a traveling police officer but which of
them is the murder? The longest running play on stage, this classic mystery
will keep audiences clinging to their seats.

Secondly, our Spring Musical is Avenue Q with Book by Jeff Whitty, Music
and Lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx. This show will be performed on
April 28th, 29th and 30th, and May 4th, 5th, and 6th. Avenue Q is the laugh
out loud musical that tells the timeless story of a recent college grad
named Princeton who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out
on Avenue Q. There, he meets Kate (the girl next door), Rod (the
Republican), Trekkie (the internet sexpert), Lucy the Slut (need we say
more?) and other colorful types who help Princeton finally discover his
purpose in life.

The RPI Players are also opening their call for Musical Directors for Avenue
Q at this time. The Musical Director is responsible for teaching all of the
music to the cast, working with the Director and the Choreographer to
develop the show, and holding auditions for and conducting the pit
orchestra for all six shows.

If you are interested in directing these shows or want more information,
please contact the RPI Players Executive Committee at players at union.rpi.edu.
To apply, please submit a theater resume and a cover letter no later than
April 15th for Directors and April 22nd for Musical Directors. The RPI
Players Executive Committee will contact applicants for an interview date
and time. Please come prepared to discuss your vision for the show.

Sincerely,

Emi Phillips
