     Sand Lake Center for the Arts, Circle Theatre Players announces open
auditions

 

SOUTHERN COMFORTS

                                 Audition Dates: Tuesday, October 18, 7pm;
Wednesday, October 19, 7pm


Some people need continuous change in order to feel vital and alive. Others
are terrified of unsettling the peace that they have established. Meet
Amanda Cross and Gus Klingman, a taciturn Yankee widower from New Jersey and
a vivacious grandmother from Tennessee find what they least expected - a
second chance at love. Their funny, awkward, and enchanting romance is
filled with sweet surprise and unpredictable tribulation. Told with warmth
and perceptive humor, this off-Broadway success is an affecting,
late-in-life journey of compromise and rejuvenation, of personal risk and
the rewards of change.  

We are looking for 1 male and 1 female, spry and lively seniors, or able to
play seniors (willing to consider 50+), should be in reasonably fit shape
(the male character needs to climb into/"stage fall" through an open window
twice during the show). Rehearsals will begin near end of Oct, heavy in
November and lighter in December. (Probably no December weekends.)
Production dates Jan 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28, 29, 2017. 

Characters: (ages are guidelines only)


AMANDA CROSS - 70s, from Tennessee, a wanna-be/former Southern Belle type,
enjoys life and all it can offer.  
GUS KLINGMAN - 70s, from New Jersey, a blue-collar working man, now retired,
set in his ways and satisfied with his situation. 

Vocal accents not required but will be considered.

 

Production Dates:  January 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28, 29, 2017
