Synopsis

In 1960's Paris, a young woman is found unconscious, with a gun beside
her, and her murdered lover across the room.  She is taken into
custody by police and interrogated by newly-appointed magistrate Paul
Sevigne.  Rather than immediately assume her guilt, Sevigne sees
something in the girl that doesn't quite add up.  He believes her to
be innocent, despite her ridiculous attempts to confess. As he
continues with his interrogation, bringing in the girl's employer, his
wife and others, the hilarious twists and turns keep coming as Sevigne
becomes determined to identify the true murderer.

Cast of Characters

Paul Sevigne (30-45) - Examining Magistrate.  He is unsteady in a new
position and desperately trying to please everyone, while also
following his investigative instincts.

Morestan (30 - 45) - His clerk. An old hand at interrogation, he
guides Sevigne through it, hilariously offering advice and reacting to
each ridiculous twist the investigation takes.

Lablache (45 - 60) - Sevigne's superior. A rather pompous man with
little time for Sevigne's antics.  He considers the case
open-and-closed.

Antoinette Sevigne (25 - 35) Sevigne's wife. Loving, but very nosy.
She weasels her way into the details of the investigation for no
reason.  She is extravagant and would like to be used to a certain
style of life.

Josefa Lantenay (18 - 25) A young murder suspect. She is
straightforward, guileless, amoral and extremely attractive.

Benjamin Beaurevers (40 - 60) Josefa's employer. An aristocratic man
who is extremely verbose and bored by it. Slightly out of touch with
his surroundings.

Dominique Beaurevers (40 - 60) His wife. An aristocratic, overbearing
and dictatorial woman who does not take kindly to things not going her
way.

Guard (20 - 40)
