The Ghent Playhouse announces auditions for GREATER TUNA, written by Jaston
Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard, and directed by Brian Wagner.



*Auditions*:         Monday, June 5 and Tuesday, June 6, 2017

                          Sign-in at 7:00 p.m. – Auditions will begin at
7:15 p.m.



                            THE GHENT PLAYHOUSE

                             6 Town Hall Place (Adjacent to the Ghent
Firehouse off Route 66)

                          Ghent, New York





*Rehearsals*:     The rehearsal schedule will be based on the availability
of those

                          chosen for the production.  Those interested in
auditioning are asked

     to be as specific as possible in listing any and all conflicts.





*Performances:*   October 6 – 22, 2017

                             Fridays and Saturday evenings at 8:00 p.m.

                             Sunday Matinees at 2:00 p.m.





*Casting Info*:      Two skillful, transformative male actors (aged 20-60)
to portray 20

                          characters – men, women, children and pets - in
this fast-paced, very

                          funny show.



    The production requires stamina, along with the ability to change roles

    at breakneck speed and create inventive voices for the characters.



    Those auditioning will be asked to read specific scenes from the

                             script.  Please see the story and character

*The Story*:  A day in the life of the wacky inhabitants of Tuna, Texas, as
they parade across the stage in all their outrageous and irreverent glory,
spouting on life, politics and what makes them (and sometimes us) tick.



This popular show has become one of the most produced plays in American
theatre history.



*The Characters*:



*THURSTON WHEELIS and ARLEN STRUVIE* - two morning radio DJ’s

*HAROLD DEAN LATTIMER - *the radio station’s weatherman

*ELMER WATKINS - * a hunting enthusiast

*PETEY FISK - *a member of the Greater Tuna Humane Society

*REV. SPIKES - *President of the Smut Snatchers of the New Order

*VERA CARP –* Vice President of the Smut Snatchers of the New Order

*BERTHA BUMILLER - *a member of the Smut Snatcher of the New Order

*HANK BULMILLER - *Bertha’s husband

*JODY, STANLEY AND CHARLENE BULMILLER - *Bertha’s 3 children

*CHAD HARTFORD - *a press reporter

*YIPPY - *a charming little dog, part rat-terrier, part Chihuahua

*LEONARD CHILDERS - *host of radio’s “On the Line with Leonard.”

*DIDI SNAVELY - *a radio show caller; owns Didi’s Used Guns

*R.R. SNAVELY - *Didi’s husband; a fiddler

*PHINAS BLYE - *another radio caller;  running for City Council

*PEARL BURRAS - *owns a chicken farm and is suspected of poisoning dogs in
the

                                neighborhood
