                                                     *CASTING FOR*


*CRADLE*


A Local Film being shot in Schenectady NY

Previous film experience is *not* required

Headshot/Resume are not mandatory, however they are encouraged

Must be at *least *14 years of age to audition

Looking to cast fifteen lead-supporting roles, character breakdown below:


****Anyone auditioning under the age of 18, please be advised if you are
cast in the film, a parental consent form must be signed****



*Available Roles for Students Ages 14+*

*(**Please note you do not have to be the same age as the character to be
considered for the role, as long as you can look that age**)*


Chante Briggs (15) - Insecure, shy, not quite beautiful. When we first meet
her she is all these things, a child at best, as the story evolves we see
the strength she truly possesses. (African American, Petite Pretty)


Shawn Williams (17) - Confident, strong, handsome, a thug. Father to many
of the films babies, Shawn struggles internally between doing what’s right,
or fitting into the role society has pre placed him in. (African American,
good looking, tough, charming.)


Clara Abruzzo (17) - GORGEOUS, the “fast” girl in school, she’s known as
the girl who gets around. Growing up with a teen mom who never knew how to
set an example, she is desperate for her chance to get out. Clara is
bitter, and angry with the cards life has dealt her, she has a nasty way of
dealing with her emotions. (Latina, petite, gorgeous.)


Hector Martin (17)- Head of the baseball team, smart, and headed for a
college scholarship, he is the boy who has it all, the only one of all the
leading players to live in a big house with anything he wants at his
fingers. He follows the dream his father has laid out for him, but longs
for more. (Biracial, Tall, handsome, athletic.)


VIVI Gonzalez (18)- The sexy girl who knows it all, she is confident and
curvaceous, she is already a teen mom, with a ten month old daughter, Shawn
is the father. (Any Ethnicity, curvy, sexy, confident.)


LAYLA Ward (18)- She is sexy and wise beyond her years, she appears much
older than her age is, and is too smart and too head strong for any of the
boys her age. She dates Uncle Mike and has always dated men much older.
Must be able to play both shy and passive, while also able to be confident.
She is a phoenix we see rise from the ashes as the story progresses.  (Any
Ethnicity, beautiful.)



Martin/Dean (17)- Hector’s friends/teammates. Any ethnicity, Athletic
build, they act as Hectors sidekicks.



*Available Roles for Adults Ages 25+*

Uncle Mike (30-40’s)-Shawn’s uncle who he looks up too. The antagonist of
our story, always pushing Shawn in the wrong direction. Grew up on the
streets, he has been a hustler his whole life, the only thing he knows is
selling drugs and making money. He dates Layla from Shawn’s school.
(African American, tall, must have demanding presence.)


Dee Abruzzo (Mid-late 30’s) - Clara’s young mother, she had Clara at age
15, she is a feisty spitfire, who is more concerned with her social life
than anything her daughter is doing. She acts more as a friend then a
mother, she never really wanted her daughter. She has a nasty selfish
nature. (Latina, BEAUTIFUL, feisty, young looking.)


Lanny Briggs (Early 40’s) - Chante’s overworked mother. Lanny is a Kitchen
cook at the local hospital, she has three kids and is a single mother after
losing her husband to drug violence. She relies far too much on Chante to
help raise her baby siblings. (African American, heavy set, tough)


Willamena (60-70’s) - Shawn’s Grandmother/Mikes mother, she lives in a
small home in the projects and raises Shawn to the best of her ability,
since both his parents passed when he was young. She has a heart of gold.
Religious, and always does the right thing. (African American, elderly
woman.)


Mr. OR Mrs. Vine-The school health teacher, casting for any age, gender, &
ethnicity.

Coach Dunkin (40-50’s) - Hector’s baseball coach and father figure. (Any
ethnicity)

Rob Martin (Early 40’s) - Retired Ex Military Man, he expects nothing but
100% at all times from his son, having had Hector half way through his
college career Steven lives vicariously through Hector. He is more of an
authority figure than a Father. (African American, Tall, handsome, tough.)


Janet Martin (Early 40’s)-Hectors mother Janet has only the best intentions
and encourages him to follow his heart, very opposite of her husband, she
only wants her son to be happy, she is close with Hector. (Caucasian,
pretty, the “cookie cutter” picture of a perfect Mom.)



***PLEASE NOTE: There will be multiple opportunities for walk on roles or
extras in the film, for students and adults if not cast in an above role.
EXTRAS Include but are not limited to: Nurse(s), Doctor(s), Students, Shawn
& Mike’s Boys. Guidance Counselor, College Scout(s) & more. ***







*CRADLE Synopsis:*

*CRADLE* takes place over a school year, following the journey of six
teenagers dealing with the everyday trials and tribulations of life, as
well as teenage pregnancy. Taking you through the nine months of the up’s
and downs of what being pregnant and sixteen really looks like, *Cradle *is
the story of what it means to be a Mother, what it means to be a Father,
but mostly what it means to be a kid, with no answers, in a world full of
questions.

Auditions will begin promptly at 1PM

**Please arrive on time, the doors will open at 12:30 for registration* *



*Where?*

Key Hall at the Proctors Theater

432 State St. Schenectady NY 12305

*On the first floor, when you walk through the main entrance, follow the
signs to the Key Hall, on the left hand side you’ll see clear glass doors,
follow them into the registration room.*



You will not need to bring any audition materiel, scenes to read from the
film will be provided, based on the character you are auditioning for.
Please look over the character description and come prepared with a role in
mind.

The audition sides will also be available for your viewing ahead of time,

organized by character. They will be available online April 1st.
