Summer Stage Young Acting Company

Audition Date: Monday, May 8, 2017 | Time: 5-8pm | Location: 111 North Pearl St. *BY APPOINTMENT ONLY*
To Audition Please Prepare:
1. A short, 1-minute, fully memorized monologue
2. Bring your headshot and resume stapled together

Performances (on theREP’s Stage): August 10-13, 2017
Tuition: $720 for three weeks. Scholarships available.
SPECIFICALLY SEEKING:
15 to 18 young actors/actresses to form the company that will perform the six winning plays from theREP’s Young Playwright Contest:
The Convoluted Life of Jazmine Blossom by Andrew Sabo (Hudson Falls HS)
Jazmine Blossom: African-American transgender (male to female) teenager; wants to fit in. Just moved to a new town/school with her mom and sister having grown lived in a city until now.
Christie Blossom: Jazmine’s younger sister; supportive and precocious.
Jada Blossom: Jazmine’s vibrant and supportive mom.
Montgomery Henrick: teenage boy; goes to school with Jazmine, and the Blossom’s new neighbor.
Familiar Faces by Eden Weinstein (Bethlehem Central HS)
Gabe: A young man in his mid-twenties. Quirky, a little shy, and always trying to seem cool yet not quite succeeding.
Ally: A woman in her mid-twenties. Confident, upbeat, and always wanting to be the center of attention.
Stacy: A woman in her mid-twenties.
Young Gabe: Boy – plays Gabe’s younger self in a flashback – aged 11-13.
Various Supermarket Shoppers
Crash Landing by Jaimie Gaskell (Greenwich Jr/Sr HS)
Pilot: The goofy, slightly clumsy, sidekick to the crime fighting superhero Zattica. Always happy to help.
Brianna: Middle school student; shy and afraid of the dark; unhappily shares a room with her big sister.
Winnie: Brianna’s older sister. Incredibly self-absorbed. Loves to pick on her sister. Infatuated with Zattica and Pilot.
Kennedy: Winnie’s BFF. Staying the night at Winnie’s house. Distraught at having been out of school when Zattica and Pilot were there to save the day. Nicer than Winnie, but doesn’t always show it.
Inside My Head by Joshua Kenna (Rensselaer Jr/Sr HS)
Ethan Kenniston/Ethan’s Conscience: 21 years old; autistic – high functioning and non-verbal. *The audience will hear his thoughts via his conscience.*
Jane Kenniston: Ethan’s mom. Struggling to deal with Ethan’s diagnosis and growth; wants what is best for him. At odds with her husband.
Jack Kenniston: Ethan’s dad. Wants what is best for his son, and tries to take the “logical” route to the “problem.” At odds with his wife.
Doctor Stevens: Ethan’s doctor. An expert in her field.
Edward Kenniston: Ethan’s younger brother. A jock. Loves his brother, but often gets very frustrated with him.
Curiosity Killed the Cat by Morgan Hughes (Schenectady HS)
Leon Lewis: 19-year old college student sent back in time for a school project. Questions the laws imposed on time travel. From the year 2082.
Grace Johnson: 23-year old movie star. The subject of Leon’s school project. In a state of shock to find a stranger in her home, believes he is a stalker rather than from the future. From the year 2038.
Though I Walk Through the Valley by S.E. Vatalaro (Shaker HS)
Jealousy: Outgoing, somewhat greedy, she is the leader of every conversation.
Justice: Blind. Generally calm but she is prone to outbursts of self-righteousness.
Beauty: Male or Female. Gorgeous and patient, but somewhat vain.
Hate: Furious with his own lot in life and distain for almost everyone around him.
Love: The one person who doesn’t set Hate off as much. He’s stupidly optimistic.
Misery: An excellent host, and excellent friend…she’s a terrible reader of social cues.
Irony: Sometimes a bit tardy, but he’s never too late.
Students of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to audition. All roles are open.
