Troy Civic Theatre is excited to present auditions for it's 2018 Season Opener: Maggie’s Boys, a new work by local playwright Diane Doring, that will be held at 7:00pm on November 16th, 2017, and 2:00pm on November 18th, 2017 at the Arts Center of the Capital Region, 265 River Street, Troy. The play takes place in Troy, in a lower-middle-class apartment in the early 1940s and raises issues of economic security, social standing, and romantic attachment.
Maggie's Boys is a story about the power of love and family. The story takes place in 1940's South Troy, NY. Maggie Bailey Santorelli struggles through poverty, illness, and a haunting trauma from her past to give her sons the best possible life she can create for them, with the help and friendship of Dr. Stephen Halloran, an old and very devoted love.

Maggie Early 30s to mid 40s
Father Tracy Similar to Maggie’s age
Desmond Maggie’s son, mid-teens
Bailey Maggie’s son, late-teens
Jamie Maggie’s son, mid-teens
Joe Maggie’s husband, her age or older
Steven Maggie’s long-time admirer, her age
William Maggie’s former employer, mid 40s or older
Irene Wiliiam’s wife, approximately his age
Audition Dates: 7:00pm on November 16th, 2017 and 2:00pm on November 18th, 2017
Audition Location: The Black Box Theater at the Arts Center of the Capital Region
Cold readings will be provided for the purposes of auditions.

(*All Actors should be prepared to say for talk-back sessions following the performances on the 23rd, 25th, and April 1st.)

Rehearsals will begin in late January, approximately two months prior to the performance dates and will be approximately two hours, three or four times a week. The rehearsal schedule will be provided before the first rehearsal after conflict reconciliation.
