ACT will hold auditions for the 3rd show of our 2017-18 season, Hedda
Gabler by Henrik Ibsen, directed by Juliet King. Auditions are Monday,
November 6 and Wednesday, November 8, sign-ins both nights at 7pm.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

The show runs February 2-18, Fridays, Saturdays at 7:30pm, Sundays at 3pm,
our pay-what-you-will preview is Thursday, February 1.

Hedda Gabler, aristocratic daughter of a general and newly-married to an
academic, yearns to shed the physical and psychological controls over her
life. She unflinchingly meets this challenge, entangling her husband,
former schoolmate, and her old flame, who is also her husband’s chief
rival, in twisting plots of subterfuge and intrigue. When a powerful judge
threatens to uncover her darkest secrets, Hedda boldly determines her own
fate.

Characters
Hedda Gabler Tesman (F, 25-30) - The main character, newly married and
bored with both marriage and life. She is the daughter of General Gabler.

George Tesman (M, 30-35) - Hedda's husband, an academic who is more
interested in research than in his wife.

Juliana Tesman (F, 55-65) - George's aunt; also called Aunt Julia, devoted
to her nephew.

Thea Elvsted (F, 25-30) - A younger schoolmate of Hedda and a former
acquaintance of George. Nervous and shy, Thea is in an unhappy marriage.

Judge Brack (M, 45-55) - A family friend who is secretly infatuated with
Hedda and rather unscrupulous.

Eilert Lövborg (M, 30-35) - George's former colleague and now someone with
whom George competes for publications and a teaching position. Eilert was
once in love with Hedda.

Berta (F, 40-50) - A servant at the Tesmans.
