The School of the Performing Arts at Proctors is looking for Teaching Artists:


Proctors is the Capital District’s leading regional arts organization with performing arts venues in Albany, Schenectady and Saratoga, and education, civic engagement and economic development initiatives throughout the region.  The School of the Performing Arts is the education wing of the organization, offering a robust series of training programs, classes and engagement programs in each venue, in schools and throughout the community.


TITLE: Teaching Artists for filmmaking – fall weekly classes

The Adeline Graham Theatrical Training and Innovation Center at Proctors

DEPARTMENT: School of the Performing Arts at Proctors

 REPORTS TO: Youth Programs Director



JOB SUMMARY:

  *   Part-time position.
  *   Seeking film makers with teaching experience.
  *   The school will operate classes with year-round programming.
  *   Fall semester will run 6 weeks, Oct 6 to Nov 10 for filmmaking.
  *   Techers may be contracted to teach from 1 to multiple classes each week of a semester.
  *   Teaching requirements may include multiple classes and/or levels on each day.
  *   Classes will be on Saturdays.



POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  *   Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching filmmaking.
  *   Proficiency in:
     *   Working on iMacs
     *   DSLR camera
     *   Adobe Premiere and the Adobe Creative Suite
  *   Degree in filmmaking, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  *   Ability to work with students with a wide range of ages and skill levels.
  *   Responsible to supervise students at all times in the class (s).
  *   Artist agrees to comply with the teaching handbook provided.
  *   Artist shall develop a lesson plan/outline the encourages creativity, and submit to the Youth Programs Director 1 week prior to the first class.
  *   Teacher must be an ambassador and have dedication to arts education.

RATE: Hourly pay rate based on experience.

BENEFITS: Part-time position, no health benefits. No housing provided for out of town artist. No travel stipend or reimbursement.

JOB SUMMARY:

  *   This is a part-time position.
  *   Fall semester will run for 6 weeks, Oct 6 to Nov 10 on Saturdays.
  *   Primary objective is to be the lead faculty member for designated class in vocal studies for musical theatre.
  *   Artist is responsible for supervising students at all times when in the classroom.
  *   Artist will help each student develop skills as individuals and as a class.
  *   Artist will inspire students to be creative and assist in creating an atmosphere of self-expression and self-esteem building based on students’ abilities.
  *   Artist shall develop a lesson plan/outline that encourages creativity, and submitted to the Youth Programs Director 1 week prior to the first class for each semester.
  *   Each semester may end with an informal class showcase.
  *   Artist agrees to comply with the teaching handbook provided.
  *   Artist must be an ambassador of the School of Performing Arts at Proctors and have a dedication to arts education.

  *   Must have a minimum 2 years’ experience teaching in your area of expertise.
  *   BA in Music or related area required.
  *   Performance experience helpful, but not required.
  *   Ability to provide piano accompaniment for students in class.
  *   Ability to work with students with a wide range of ages and skill levels.



RATE:  Hourly pay rate based on experience.
