*Warsaw Uprising Original Play Audition Notice*



*WHAT*

*Ad Astra Theatre Troupe, LTD.* is taking its original play, Uprising,
written by SUNY Adirondack professor *Lâle Davidson*, and local teens, *Catie
LeCours* and *Grace Alberti, on the Road to Buffalo NY and Glens Falls, NY*.
Based on the women of the Warsaw Uprising, our story follows two sisters in
the early days of the ill-fated rebellion. “Uprising” examines childhood
intertwined with warfare, culture tangled with causality, and the uncanny
presence of those lost.



Most of the original cast will remain with the production. We are seeking
three teenage actors and one adult woman actor.




*WHAT TO EXPECT *Please indicate your interest to audition ASAP. You will
be sent sides to read for your video audition. Please email your audition

September 2 and a decision will be made that day.



*ROLES AVAILABLE*

PIOTR KOSTKA – 15. A lead role. Piotr is the local saucy rogue. A brave,
self-assured and somewhat flirtatious young man. A longtime friend of the
Dobosz girls. Eager to distinguish himself in the fighting.

RUTA SŁOBODA – 35-45. A grown woman afflicted with polio who has lost much
during the occupation of Warsaw. Dedicated, despite her disability, to be
useful – even if it is only by feeding the Polish rebels.

OTTO HEIDRICH – 18. An agent of the Gestapo. An intelligent mind always
seeking justification for the atrocities he participates in, but who is not
brave enough to resist the pressure put on him by his oppressive society.

IRENA LISIEWICZ – 25, can be played by a teen. A young mother of three,
characterized by stark defiance to injustice. She would defend her family
to the grave, and that she does.

*WHEN AND WHERE*

Rehearsals will take place most Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm to 5pm
starting September 9 at the Bloom Movement Studio Suite 1000, 153 Regent
Street, Saratoga Springs, NY. Actors will be called to most rehearsals,



*Buffalo Show: *Dress Rehearsal 10/5 and Show 10/6 at the Marie Mayday
Little Theatre, Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. Transportation,
accommodations, and chaperones will be provided by Ad Astra Theatre Troupe.



*Glens Falls Shows*: Shows 11/3 and 11/4 at the Park Theater in Glens
Falls, NY
