Theater Voices announces auditions for the first staged reading of its
2018-19 season, *Marjorie Prime* by Jordan Harrison, directed by Krysta
Dennis.

Auditions will be held *August 27 and 28, 2018, from 7-9 pm* at Steamer No.
10 Theatre, 500 Western Avenue in Albany. Please arrive by 7 pm and be
prepared to stay. Auditions will consist of reading sides from the play.

Actors must be available for all performance dates, which are *October 12
at 8 pm; October 13 at 3 pm and 8 pm; and October 14 at 3 pm.*

*The play:* With help from an intriguingly innovative artificial
intelligence technology in a future not far from our present, 85-year-old
Marjorie examines her past, sometimes replacing her realities with
idealized memories. Jordan Harrison’s thoughtful, spare, subtly shattering
work, a 2015 Pulitzer finalist, explores the ways our humanity is shaped
and warped by the mysterious ebbs and flows of memory. What would we
remember, and what would we forget, given the power of authorship?

*The characters:*

*Marjorie*: 70s-80s. Feisty and sharp, but starting to lose her memory.

*Walter *(Marjorie’s husband): 30s-40s, young career man from 1998.

*Tess* (Marjorie’s daughter): 50s, suspicious of technology, has a
complicated relationship with her mother.

*Jon *(Tess’s husband): 50s, kind, helpful. As Marjorie says, he has "a
face to grow old with."

All roles are available.
