[Capdist-auditions] Auditions for SCT’s Baby

Schuylerville Community Theater is excited to announce auditions for our spring musical “Baby” - Tuesday, December 11th, 7:00 PM at the Saratoga Town Office Building on the corner of Routes 29 and 32 in Schuylerville. Snow date and/or callbacks are set for Wednesday, December 12th. Rehearsals will start the first week of January. Production dates are March 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, 2019.
 
Set to beautiful music, the storyline is both touching and humorous. Three couples at a university campus deal with the painful, rewarding, and agonizingly funny consequences of the experience of pregnancy and upcoming parenthood. There are the college students - barely at the beginning of their adult lives; the thirty-somethings - having trouble conceiving but determined to try; and the middle-aged parents - looking forward to seeing their last child graduate from college, when a night of unexpected passion lands them back where they started. It is about how lives and relationships change with parenthood.  
 
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS 

The College Couple:
 
Lizzie – age: 18-20’s (will consider mature 16-17 year olds) – range: mezzo-soprano - aspiring writer, visionary, organized list maker

Danny – age: 18-20’s (will consider mature 16-17 year olds) – range: tenor - aspiring rock musician

The Thirty-somethings:

Nick – age: 20’s to 30’s (or able to play type) – range: baritone - athletic, college coach, Pam’s Rock of Gibraltar, with his own insecurities

Pam – age: 20’s to 30’s (or able to play type) – range: mezzo-soprano - tomboy, athletic, unsure of her feminity (this role will require dexterity with a basketball)

The Middle-aged Couple:

Alan – age: 40’s to 50’s (or able to play type) – range: baritone - college administrator

Arlene – age: 40’s to 50’s (or able to play type) – range: mezzo-soprano - trying to rediscover romance in her marriage

Various other roles will be assigned from the men’s/women’s chorus members. The directors have some great ideas for the ensemble. Limited rehearsals will be required for the chorus for the first 4 weeks of rehearsals.

Please prepare a song of your choice to audition with. Please bring sheet music, as an accompanist will be provided. You may also audition with a piece from the show.
