Based loosely (and lovingly) on Jane Austin's Pride andPrejudice, the play is set in a small, hip, privately-owned bookstorewhere Liz, the 65 year old proprietor (and a former activist), hosts a weeklybook group for women. While her adult son designs websites and his annoyingwife hosts a weekly food blog, Liz and her colorful friends (her actresssister, an organic farmer, a lesbian lawyer, an aging hippie and Liz's recentlywidowed best friend) meet week after week to discuss life and literature, andto drink LOTS of coffee. 

When anattractive and wealthy land developer and his uptight financial advisorannounce plans to develop the empty lot next door, the women organize to savetheir historic neighborhood and a battle of the sexes begins. Gentrificationmixes with sexual tension in this delightful East Coast premiere exploring thevalue of things new ... and not so new.  Mr. Monteverde is seeking charismatic comicactors ages 35 – 70 for 16 roles (10 women and 6 men).
