TITLE: MUSICAL INSTRUCTOR – School of the Performing Arts Acting Academy Spring 2018

JOB SUMMARY:



Proctors is the Capital Region’s leading regional arts organization with performing arts venues in Albany, Schenectady and Saratoga, in education, civic engagement and economic development initiatives throughout the region.  The School of the Performing Arts is the education wing of the organization, offering a robust series of training programs, classes and engagement programs in each venue, in schools and throughout the community.



The School of Performing Arts at Proctors, in Schenectady, New York is seeking an experienced, creative musical instructor who is a dynamic teacher for their Acting Academy for the spring of 2018.



The Acting Academy is an after-school program developed with the Schenectady City School District to provide theatre training for middle school students of the district. This program provides training in acting, improvisation, team building, movement, music, and light technical skills. The musical instructor would teach the music and songs of the show Once on This Island, Jr.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



- Musical Supervisor

- Vocal Coach

- Plays keyboard during sessions.

- Conduct all musical rehearsal needs for the production for the acting company.

- Plan and meet with creative team as necessary.



POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:



- Minimum of 1 year experience in musical or choral instruction.

- Excellent piano/keyboard ability.

- Experience teaching/working with students ages 11-14 with a wide range of skill levels.

- Well organized and strong leader.

- Must be dependable and self-motivated.

- Possesses the ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.

- Team player that is able to work well with others.

- Demonstrates strong verbal and written skills.

- Have availability weekdays between 4-5:30pm.



FEE: hourly, $30

OTHER INFORMATION: No Benefits, No housing
