Theater Voices announces auditions for its next staged reading, *The
(curious case of the) Watson Intelligence* by Madeleine George, directed by
Tony Pallone.

Auditions will be held at *The Terrace at Beverwyck*, 41 Beverwyck
Lane in Slingerlands
(**see audition space note below*), from *7-9 p.m.* on *Monday, Feb. 19*,
2018. Please arrive at 7 pm and be prepared to stay.

Actors must be available for all performance dates, which are *Friday,
March 23* at 8 pm; *Saturday, March 24* at 3 pm and 8 pm; and *Sunday,
March 25* at 3 pm.

*The play:* You've probably never seen anything quite like *The (curious
case of the) Watson Intelligence*, an endlessly inventive,
thought-provoking meditation on companionship, devotion and artificial
intelligence. Watson is a trusty sidekick to Sherlock Holmes... a loyal
engineer who built Bell’s first telephone... an unstoppable super-computer
that became reigning *Jeopardy! *champ... and an amiable techno-dweeb just
looking for love. The play jumps through time periods as it follows these
multiple Watson incarnations, embodied by a single actor, who is surrounded
by Merrick, his nemesis, and Eliza, the object of his desire. A highly
original play, nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2014.

*The characters:*

*Watson*, 20s-30s. Loyal, overconfident and disarmingly intimate. Requires
a versatile actor who can quickly switch between multiple characters.

*Merrick*, 30s-40s. Ambitious, calculating and passionately heartless.
Requires an actor with a gift for compelling speech.

*Eliza*, 25-35. Brilliant, needy and tenaciously inquisitive. Requires an
actor with a gift for emotional resonance.

All actors will play multiple characters, and all roles are available.

questions.
