2018 Spring Projects
Since 2015, The Saratoga Film Academy <https://saratogafilmacademy.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ae2c9183f89c36a9eed546647&id=550215b89d&e=d4410eec20>, has facilitated a simulated professional filmmaking experience for high school students. We have been fortunate to work with over 100 different actors throughout the capital district.  This spring we are producing 6 short films throughout March and April and this is our casting call.

CASTING
We are seeking to cast more than 12 roles for 6 short films. Lead actors will be compensated $100 a day, plus meal, copy of work and screenings.

Our film shoots are one-day shoots that last between 8-10 hours on Sundays.

PROJECTS/ROLES

Project 1:  Pogo (working title)
Writer/Director - Phineas O'Brien
Shoot Date - March 11
A distraught single mom struggles to control her disobedient young daughter who is obsessed with an old evil clown doll.

Roles:
Sarah (Mother) - 30's, middle class, professional, single mom. A control freak, striving for unachievable perfection, has had many failed romantic relationships.

Riley (Daughter) - 8-12 yrs, young looking, loner, lacks empathy, hates her mom's controlling nature, only cares about her clown doll, Pogo, and treats the doll like her child.

Project 2: It's the Shoes! (working title)
Writer/Director - Drew Hughes
Shoot Date - March 18
A teenage outcast, obsessed with popularity and sneakers, struggles to earn the respect of his peers, but when he finds the sweetest pair of kicks he believes this is his shot to beat the most popular, athletic kid in school at dodgeball and earn some popularity.

Roles:
Grayson - 15-18 yrs, not athletic, overly confident, quirky, obsessed with popularity and shoes (Napoleon Dynamite type)

Crosby -  15-18 yrs, the complete opposite of Grayson, athletic, competitive, popular, handsome, and arrogant, has the coolest sneakers.

Project 3: Scrabble for a Word (working title)
Writer/Director - Angela Capuano
Shoot Date - March 25
A grieving, single mother estranged from her sulking teenage daughter, attempts to connect with her through an old family past-time, but risks the relationship by inadvertently exposing wounds that have yet to heal. 

Roles:
Sarah (Mother) - 40's/50's, single mom, optimistic, resilient, professional, needs to cry

Lily (Daughter) - 15-17 yrs, stubborn, distant, grieving the loss of her sister, refuses to speak

Project 4: Caged Innocence (working title)
Writer/Director - Madiana Rodriguez
Shoot Date - April 8
A teenage girl prohibited from contacting her imprisoned father, must betray her domineering mother to unveil her father's innocence and reveal the actual killer.

Roles:
Alex (Daughter) - 15-17yrs., female, 5' to 5'6", reactive and impulsive, brave and determined, always had faith in her father's innocence.

Mother - 40-45yrs., female, controlling, domineering, secretive and goes out of her way to conceal the truth from Alex.

Project 5: The People She Knows (working title)
Writer/Director - Shane Craig
Shoot Date - April 15
A neglected teenage girl receives an unwanted visit from her crazy ex-boyfriend, only to discover he is a serial killer who has murdered her friends and family, and she must fight for her survival.

Roles:
Isabella - 15-18yrs., smart, athletic, uneasy, depressed, overly organized, brutally honest at times, worries a lot, desires to get her ex-boyfriend out of the house.

Brian - 15-18yrs, he is a psychopath serial killer,  lacks empathy, soulless, dark brooding type, tall, and frightening

Project 6: Grounded (working title)
Writer/Director - Ella Morgan
Shoot Date - April 22
A grounded teenage boy must escape his overbearing mother to say goodbye one last time to his best friend who is moving away and risk being sent to military school.

Roles:
Max Bell - 14-16yrs., mischievous, clumsy, smart, resourceful, rebellious, hates being grounded

Ms. Bell - 40's, soccer mom, overbearing, strict & controlling, mean, manipulative, and eccentric, she feels that her son is out of control, goes to extreme lengths to reinforce her punishment
