To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Concert at Woodstock as well as
the premiere of "The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical"; the Phoenicia
Playhouse proudly announces it's summer musical: HAIR

Award-winning director/choreographer Ovi Vargas makes his debut at the
Phoenicia Playhouse this summer directing and choreographing. A graduate of
the Boston Conservatory of Music and a veteran of over 300 shows, Ovi
brings a wealth of experience, success and passion attained on the stages
of Broadway, Off-Broadway, National Tours, Regional Theatre, Summer Stock
as well as Television and Film.

HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical by James Rado, Jerome Ragni
and Galt McDermott - features the songs; The Age of Aquarius, Easy To be
Hard, Good Morning Starshine and Hair.

Looking to cast diverse ensemble for the summer, non-union, musical
production of HAIR.  Original Hippies as well as folks born in the 21st
Century are encouraged to audition.

Please Note: There will be NO nudity in our production.

Audition dates: Monday April 22ndfrom 6 to 8PM, Wednesday April
24th from 6 to 8PM with call backs on Saturday April 27th from 10AM to
2PM.

Please come prepared with sheet music of your choice that you feel
best features your voice and that’s appropriate to the show. Also, be
prepared to read from script or to improvise a scene if asked. Also,
please be ready to tell your favorite joke. No kidding. Dance call
will be held at callbacks on Saturday. Please bring appropriate
dancewear and footwear. No flip-flops, please!

Show Times: Runs July 5th through July 21st. Fridays and Saturday
evenings at 8PM and Sunday Matinees at 2PM

CASTING THE FOLLOWING ROLES: (Ages are approximate)

BERGER. Age range 19 to 25. Any ethnicity. Alpha male. An unmistakable
leader. Charming, charismatic and sexy. Hopelessly committed to this
life and all that comes with it. Vocal range; A#2 to B4 with a quality
rock sound. Looking for strong actor with a voice to match. Some dance
ability is a plus.

CLAUDE. Age range 19 to 25. Any ethnicity. Beta male. Sensitive and
thoughtful. Emotionally torn between two worlds: the old conservative
world of his parents and the modern new one that’s dawning. Ambivalent
about where he fits in but not ambivalent about needing to belong as
well as doing what’s right. Vocal range; A2 to F4 with an emotional
range from hard rock to sensitive and deep longing. Some dance ability
is a plus.

SHEILA. Age range 16 to 25. Any ethnicity. Young but wise beyond her
years. An unshakable social justice warrior who is hopelessly
committed to the cause. In love with Berger but can stand firmly on
her two feet and be all business when she needs to. Vocal range; G3
toC5. Powerful and emotional. Some dance ability is a plus.

Also casting a strong and featured ensemble to play multiple roles.
All must good actors, singers (pop or rock sound) and either dance or
move well.

WOOF. Age 16 to 21. Any ethnicity. Supporting role. Goofy, funny.
Featured soloist. Tenor or High Baritone.

HUD. Age 19 to 25. Preferably African-American but will consider all
ethnicities. Supporting role. Funny, sexy and intimidating. Featured
soloist. Tenor or High Baritone.

JEANIE. Age 16 to 19. Any ethnicity. Supporting role. Sweet, immature
flower-child, pot head, madly in love with Claude. Featured soloist.
Alto

DIONNE. Age 19 to 25. Preferably African-American but will consider
all ethnicities. Supporting role. Featured soloist. Looking for a
powerful and soulful sound. Mezzo Soprano. High and low notes.

CRISSY. Age 15. Any ethnicity. Featured soloist. Supporting role. The
youngest of the tribe. Sweet and immature flower-child. Looking for a
young sounding pop voice. Soprano.

ENSEMBLE. Actor, singer, dancers to play a plethora of roles and sing
and dance in splashy production numbers.
