PRODUCTION: FRIEND OF A FRIEND: Tales of the Underground Railroad
PRODUCER: Capital Repertory Theatre, 111 N. Pearl Street, Albany, NY 12207
CONTRACT: TYA/EQUITY Will see non-AEA actors - All actors receive EQUITY contract.

DATES: Reh starts 2/7/19, first perf 2/25/19; last perf 3/15/19. (Day off: Sundays)
SALARY: $600/wk.
HOUSING: upgraded company, private, very nice 1-bedroom apartment (no sharing) within walking distance of Capital Rep.
TOUR DESCRIPTION: Day trips only within 90 m radius, no out of area overnights.

SYNOPSIS: This original docu-play, developed by theREP, uses archival documents to bring to life the impact of the Fugitive Slave Act in New York’s Capital Region. The stories tell the struggles of local African American heroes including Solomon and Ann Northup, Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth and publishers, Stephen and Harriet Myers and the role of the Underground Railroad.

NOTE: Actors play multiple roles in this fast-paced, 1-hour piece that is one of the most popular of theREP’s “On the Go” school touring productions.

SEEKING:
(1) F- African American, mid-late 20s to play all female roles including Ann Northup, Harriet Myers, Sojourner Truth and more. Physical and verbally versatile. Some singing (hymns, folk tunes)

(1) M – African American, mid-20-30s to play Solomon Northup (12 Years a Slave), Stephen Myers and others. Physically and verbally versatile. Some singing. (Hymns/folk songs)
