TITLE: Teaching Artist for Musical Theatre/Voice – Audition Preparation

The Adeline Graham Theatrical Training and Innovation Center at Proctors

DEPARTMENT: School of the Performing Arts at Proctors

REPORTS TO: Youth Programs Director

Proctors is the Capital Region’s leading regional arts organization with performing arts venues in Albany, Schenectady and Saratoga, and education, civic engagement and economic development initiatives throughout the region. The School of the Performing Arts is the education wing of the organization, offering a robust series of training programs, classes and engagement programs in each venue, in schools and throughout the community.

JOB SUMMARY:

  *   This is a part-time position.
  *   Spring semester will run for 6 weeks, March 2 to April 6 on Saturdays from 9-11:30a.m.
  *   Primary objective is to be the lead faculty member for designated class in vocal studies for musical theatre.
  *   Artist is responsible for supervising students at all times when in the classroom.
  *   Artist will help each student develop skills as individuals and as a class.
  *   Artist will inspire students to be creative and assist in creating an atmosphere of self-expression and self-esteem building based on students’ abilities.
  *   Artist shall develop a lesson plan/outline that encourages creativity, and submitted to the Youth Programs Director 1 week prior to the first class for each semester.
  *   Each semester may end with an informal class showcase.
  *   Artist agrees to comply with the teaching handbook provided.
  *   Artist must be an ambassador of the School of Performing Arts at Proctors and have a dedication to arts education.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  *   Must have a minimum 2 years’ experience teaching in your area of expertise.
  *   BA in Music or related area required.
  *   Performance experience helpful, but not required.
  *   Ability to provide piano accompaniment for students in class.
  *   Ability to work with students with a wide range of ages and skill levels.

RATE:  Hourly pay rate based on experience.

BENEFITS:  Part-time position, no health benefits. No travel, or housing provided.

DEPARTMENT: School of the Performing Arts at Proctors

TITLE: Broadway Camp - Production Stage Manager / Production Supervisor

REPORTS TO: Youth Programs Director/Show Director

JOB SUMMARY:

The School of the Performing Arts at Proctors is seeking an experienced stage manager for the summer of 2019 Broadway Camp mainstage production of LES MISERABLE School Edition.  Broadway Camp consists of classes, workshops and rehearsal and will be performed with a student orchestra, cast and crew of over 50 high school students from throughout the Capital Region in collaboration between Proctors and Capital Repertory Theatre.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  *   Stage Manager experience
  *   Experience with large full-scale musicals
  *   Experience with large cast
  *   Multi-tasking and creating schedules
  *   Coordination and running of rehearsals
  *   Cueing and calling performances (Lights, Sound, Follow spots, fly system)
  *   Coordinating crews working with a combination of theater professionals from Proctors and theREP, and the integration of students from ages 14-19 with a broad range of skill levels.
  *   Assist with Interns as needed
  *   Ideally, but not necessary teaching artist experience.
  *   BA in Theatre/Stage Management or equivalent experience or earning degree.

AVAILABILITY:

  *   This is a five-week full-time commitment commencing on July 1 and ending August 3 (4th of July, Day off).
  *   Must be available from July 1 to August 3, Monday - Friday, 9 am to 5:30 pm
  *   Program runs July 8 to August 2.
  *   Pre-production meetings as required in person or via phone or conference call.
  *   Shows on August 2 and August 3 (Friday at 7 pm, and Saturday at 2 pm and 7 pm).

TITLE: Broadway Camp - Assistant Musical Director



Job Summary:

The School of the Performing Arts at Proctors is seeking an Assistant Musical Director for the summer of 2019 Broadway Camp MainStage production of LES MISERABLE School Edition. The Broadway Camp will be performed with a student orchestra, cast and crew of over 50 high school students from throughout the Capital Region. Previous shows have been ALL SHOOK UP, PIPPIN and AIDA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate must be able to work with students ages 14-19 with a wide range of skill levels. Responsible for acting as audition pianist, rehearsal pianist, playing keyboard in the show, and other duties normally associated as Assistant Musical Director.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  *   Proficient in playing the piano & keyboards.
  *   Ability to utilize keyboard orchestration requirements.  (programming or patching)
  *   Must be conformable with large orchestration.  (most of our orchestras are 12-17)
  *   Must be comfortable to step in rehearsal situations as needed to play for scene/song or dance rehearsal.

Period of Employment:

  *   Pre-production/creative meetings: March 4 - July 6 – as needed
  *   Auditions: 10am-2pm Sunday March 31, 4-7pm Tuesday, April 2& 10am-2pm Saturday, April 6  (as audition pianist additional compensation @$30 per hour)
  *   Rehearsal: 9am-5:30pm July 8-August 2, M-F
     *   1-6pm Sunday, July 28 for orchestra read through of score.
  *   Performances: 7pm Friday Aug 2, 2pm & 7pm Saturday Aug 3

Compensation Details: $2000. There are no health benefits for this 4-week project/position. No housing provided for out of town artist.
