[Capdist-auditions] SLOC Seeks Director for 9 to 5

Schenectady Light Opera Company has completed the show selection process
for the 2019-2020 season, but we are currently searching for a director for
our production of 9 to 5: The Musical in January 2020.

If you would be interested in directing this production, please submit a
brief overview of your artistic vision for the show, potential production
staff and a resume highlighting previous directorial experience by February
8, 2019. Submissions may be sent to slocseason2019 at sloctheater.org. Once
all submissions are received you may be contacted for an interview. Listed
below you will find a brief synopsis of 9 to 5: The Musical.

9 to 5 The Musical, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by
Patricia Resnick, is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Set in the late
1970s. this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is
outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic.

Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get
even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call
their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live
out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains
"otherwise engaged," the women give their workplace a dream makeover,
taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl
can scheme, can't she?

This high-energy show is ideal for a large, mostly female cast, but also
has opportunities for talented male dancers. With its jubilant score and
easily relatable characters, 9 to 5 is the perfect show for community
theaters.
