> The Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate New York, in collaboration with the Underground Railroad History Project and Siena College Creative Arts Department, will present Yours for the Oppressed, an original play based on an episode in the lives of local Black abolitionists, Harriet and Stephen Myers, and the struggles faced by Black Americans involved in the Underground Railroad.
>
> Harriet and Stephen Myers were middle class, Black abolitionists who lived in Arbor Hill during the mid-1800s. Through their work with the Albany Vigilance Committee, they opened the path of freedom for numerous freedom seekers. This story of perseverance, brotherhood, and friendship illuminates a past history once forgotten.
