*Synopsis*

Mark Twain’s tale, The Prince and the Pauper tells the story of two
young boys who were born on the same day in 1537 and are identical in
appearance: Tom Canty, a pauper who lives with his abusive, alcoholic
father in Offal Court off Pudding Lane in London, and Edward VI of
England, son of King Henry VIII of England

Tom was well educated and learned Latin from Father Andrew, a local
priest. One day, while taking a stroll, he meets Edward. They switch
places with each other to get to know each other's lives better. When
King Henry VIII died, Edward was to be crowned King.

Tom was about to be crowned king when Edward forces his way in and
proves that he is the rightful King by knowing where the Great Seal of
England was, having hidden it just after they had switched clothes.
Edward is crowned King, and names Tom his royal ward.
