Classic Theater Guild will hold auditions for The Waverly Gallery by Kenneth Lonergan on Sunday, January 2nd at 4pm and Tuesday, January 4th at 7pm. Auditions will be held at the Congregation Beth Israel, 2195 Eastern Parkway, Schenectedy NY. Performances will be from Thursday March 10th through Sunday, March 20, 2022. Tech week will begin Sunday, March 6th and will be mandatory for all cast/crew.
COVID 19 information. Please note: We follow both the CDC and NYS Health guidelines regarding COVID 19. All those auditioning must provide proof of vaccination (first two shots) prior to auditioning and if cast agree to provide proof of a booster shot prior to beginning of rehearsals. Social distancing and masking will still apply regardless of vaccination status and other policies may be implemented based on updated CDC and NYS health department recommendations.
Actors will be asked to read sides from the script. Resumes and headshots are appreciated but not necessary. Please contact Barbara Davis at bdd1101 at gmail.com with any questions.
Play Description:
“A powerfully poignant and often hilarious play, The Waverly Gallery is about the final years of a generous, chatty, and feisty grandmother's final battle against Alzheimer's disease. The play explores her fight to retain her independence and the subsequent effect of her decline on her family, especially her grandson.”
Character Descriptions:
Gladys Green: A former lawyer and Greenwich Village activist, runs a small art gallery, eighties
Ellen Fine: Her daughter, a psychiatrist, fifties-early sixties
Daniel Reed: Ellen’s son, a speechwriter, twenties-early thirties
Howard Fine: Ellen’s husband, Daniel’s stepfather, a psychiatrist, fifties to sixties
Don Bowman: A painter and waiter from Lynn Massachusetts, thirties
