AUDITION ANNOUNCMENT
The Lyons

AUDITION DATES: June 27 & 29, 2022.
SIGN IN: 6:30pm. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.
AUDITION LOCATION: Sand Lake Center for the Arts. 2880 NY 43, Averill Park
NY 12018

Ben Lyons is in a hospital where he is dying from cancer. His family gathers
around him. They are his wife, Rita, and grown children, Curtis Lyons, and
Lisa Lyons. Also present is his nurse. Ben is no longer constrained by
manners and says whatever he wishes, including expletives. Rita, trapped in
a 40-year loveless marriage, now thinks of the future without Ben and plans
to re-decorate. Lisa is an alcoholic, who has left an abusive marriage;
Curtis, homosexual, has had little to do with his father, who is homophobic.
Afraid of closeness and afraid of solitude, they are propelled into foreign
territory - human connection.

Available Roles:

Ben: Late 70's. Dying of cancer.

Rita: 60's to 70's. Ben's wife.

Curtis: 30's. Ben's son.

Lisa: Late 30's. Ben's daughter.

Nurse: 30's.

Brian: 20's to 30's. A very attractive real estate broker.

Actors of any gender and race are encouraged and welcomed to audition. 

Production dates: September 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18.
Tech week begins September 4th.

Rehearsal schedule will be determined by the director once the production is
cast. -
