Grease Auditions
Fort Salem Theater announces auditions for *Grease* on Monday, May 9 and
Tuesday, May 10, with callbacks by invitation only on Wednesday, May 11.
All roles listed are currently available and are open to actors of all
ethnicities and gender identities.
Performers are asked to prepare approximately 1 minute of any Broadway or
1950’s style pop song. An accompanist will be provided. Singing from the
show is welcome, but not required. Cold readings and a dance call will be
offered at callbacks. Those unable to attend in-person auditions should
submit a video to Kyle at FortSalem.com no later than Thursday, May 5th.
This is approximately a 7-week commitment only. Rehearsals will typically
be Sundays from 6PM-10PM, Monday-Thursday from 7PM-10PM and occasional
Saturday mornings, pending the availability of the cast and the needs of
the show. A full calendar will be provided by the first rehearsal. Each
actor will receive a minimum of two complimentary tickets. In celebration
of Fort Salem Theater’s 50th Anniversary Season, actors who participate in
2022 productions will also received a free 12-month invitation to opening
weekends for all MainStage productions. At this time, housing, travel &
performance stipends are not available.
*About the show:*
With a hip-shaking rock 'n' roll score featuring hits like "Summer Nights,"
"Greased Lightnin'," and "We Go Together," Grease celebrates Rydell High's
class of 1959 in all their duck-tailed, bobby-soxed, gum-snapping glory.
This production includes hits from the movie, used with special permission.

*DANNY ZUKO:* Male identifying, High School Teen (Range: tenor, D4–B5) The
leader of the Burger Palace Boys; good-looking, strong and confident, with
an air of easy-going charm. Sings “Summer Nights,” “Alone at The Drive-In
Movie,” and “You’re The One That I Want.”
*SANDY DUMBROWSKI:* Female identifying, High School Teen (Range: Soprano,
A3–F#5) New girl in town; sweet, wholesome, naive, cute, and innocent.
Sings “Summer Nights,” “Hopelessly Devoted To You,” “Rydell Fight Song,”
“It’s Raining on Prom Night,” "Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee (Reprise)," and
“You’re The One that I Want.”
*BETTY RIZZO: *Female identifying, High School Teen (Range: Alto A3–C5)
Leader of the Pink Ladies; tough, sarcastic and outspoken but
vulnerable. Sings "Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee," and "There Are Worse Things
I Could Do."
*FRENCHY:* Female identifying, High School Teen (Range: Alto, A3–D5) A
dreamer; good-natured but not too smart, she is heavily made up, fussy
about her appearance, particularly her hair. She can't wait to finish high
school so she can be a beautician.
*MARTY:* Female identifying, High School Teen (Range Alto, C4–C5) The
'beauty' of the Pink Ladies; pretty and looks older than the other girls,
but betrays her real age when she opens her mouth. She tries to act
sophisticated. Sings “Freddy My Love.”
*JAN: *Female identifying, High School Teen (Range: Alto, A3-C5) Funny,
loud, compulsive eater of any size or shape and awkward member of the Pink
Ladies. Loud and pushy with the girls, but shy with boys Sings “Mooning.”
*DOODY:* Male identifying, High School Teen (Range: Tenor, D4-A5) The
youngest of the guys; small, boyish and open, with a disarming smile and a
hero-worshipping attitude towards the other guys. He also plays the guitar
(preferred, but not required). Sings “"Those Magic Changes," and "Rock 'N'
Roll Party Queen."
*KENICKIE:* Male identifying, High School Teen (Range: Tenor, C4–F5) The
second in command of the Burger Palace Boys; tough-looking, tattooed, surly
and avoids any show of softness. He has an offbeat sense of humor. Sings
"Greased Lightnin'."
*SONNY LATIERRI:* Male identifying, High School Teen (Range: baritone,
G3–A5) A member of the Burger Palace Boys; funny Italian-American, he is a
braggart and wheeler-dealer who thinks he's a real lady-killer.
*ROGER:* Male identifying, High School Teen (Range: Tenor, D4-A5) The
anything-for-a-laugh stocky type of boy; a clown who enjoys winding people
up, he is full of mischief and is always dreaming up half-baked schemes and
ideas. Sings “"Mooning,” and "Rock 'N' Roll Party Queen."
*VINCE FONTAINE:* Male identifying, High School Teen (Range: Ensemble/Part
Flexible) A typical 'teen audience' disc jockey; slick, egotistical and
fast-talking. He is also a veteran 'Greaser.'
*CHA-CHA*, aka CHARLENE DIGREGORIO: Female identifying, High School Teen
(Range: Alto, C4–C5) The best dancer at St. Bernadette's; a loudmouth, she
wins the dancing competition with Danny.
*EUGENE FLORCZYK:* Male identifying, High School Teen (Range: Tenor, A3–E5)
The class valedictorian; physically awkward, with weak eyes and a
high-pitched voice. He's a typical 'apple-polisher' - both smug and
pompous, but gullible.
*JOHNNY CASINO: *Male identifying, High School Teen (Range: Tenor, G4-E5)
All-American, rock-star “greaser” student at Rydell High. Sings "Born to
Hand Jive." May potentially double as Teen Angel.
*MISS LYNCH: *Female identifying, Age Flexible (Range: Ensemble/Part
Flexible) A no-nonsense, serious, loud, English teacher
*PATTY SIMCOX:* Female identifying, High School Teen(Range: Alto, D4-A4) A
typical cheerleader; attractive, athletic, sure-of-herself, but can be
given to bursts of disconcerting enthusiasm. She's a bit of a pain and
unpopular with the Pink Ladies, and can twirl a baton.
*TEEN ANGEL:* Gender Identity & Age Very Flexible (Range: Tenor, E4–F5)
Frenchy's suave and slick guardian angel, who encourages her to stay in
school. Sings "Beauty Schoo. Dropout." May potentially double as Johnny
Casino.
*THE PINK LADIES:* Ensemble (SATB) The club-jacketed, gum-chewing,
hip-swinging girls' gang who hang around with the Burger Palace Boys.
*THE BURGER PALACE BOYS:* Ensemble (SATB) A super-cool, DA-haired,
hard-looking group of high school wheeler-dealers... or so they think.

Tick Tick Boom Auditions
Fort Salem Theater is now accepting video submissions for *tick…tick…Boom*
through Sunday, May 8th. The roles of Michael and Susan are currently
available and are open to actors of all ethnicities and gender identities.
Performers are asked to prepare the sides and songs attached through the
folder below marked “Tick Tick Boom Audition Sides.” A piano track, sheet
music, and scene sides are listed for each role. Email all materials to
Kyle at FortSalem.com.
This is approximately a 5-week commitment only, with rehearsals starting on
Monday, July 25. Rehearsals will typically be Sundays from 6PM-10PM,
Monday-Thursday from 7PM-10PM and occasional Saturday mornings, pending the
availability of the cast and the needs of the show. A full calendar will be
provided by the first rehearsal. Each actor will receive a minimum of two
complimentary tickets. In celebration of Fort Salem Theater’s 50th
Anniversary Season, actors who participate in 2022 productions will also
received a free 12-month invitation to opening weekends for all MainStage
productions. Although these positions are unpaid a small stipend is
available for a choreographer, and we are open to an actor-choreographer
opportunity for this production.

Before Rent, there was Tick, Tick... Boom!. This autobiographical musical
by Jonathan Larson, the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning composer of
Rent, is the story of a composer and the sacrifices that he made to achieve
his big break in theatre.

roommate and best friend who previously was an actor and is now a marketing
executive. This actor will double other roles.
*SUSAN:* (Female presenting, stage age 20 - 30, vocal range A3-D5) - Jon's
girlfriend and a dancer in New York City. This actress will double other
roles.
