Reminder: The Electric City Chorus will host an Open House for male singers interested in joining or learning about the chorus. The Open House will be at SLOC’s Education Building at 418 Liberty Street in Schenectady TONIGHT, Tuesday, October 18th at 7 pm.
ALL VISITORS MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED AGAINST COVID19, PER SLOC and ECC POLICY.
If you are unable to attend the Open House, you are welcome to attend any of our rehearsals, which are held every Tuesday evening at 7 pm at SLOC, unless we are out singing somewhere. Check our website for any schedule changes: electriccitychorus.net.
Experience is not necessary and we provide audio learning tracks and sheet music to facilitate the learning process. Since we perform all of our songs without any sheet music, singing with the Chorus is a great way to develop skills that will be valuable in theatrical productions.
The Electric City Chorus is a men's a cappella close harmony singing group based in Schenectady. We have been singing Barbershop Harmony since 1944.
Our repertoire draws from Broadway musicals, pop music, big band standards, and includes love songs, toe-tappers, and hits from across the decades, all sung in our unique four-part a cappella close harmony style. We also have a couple of quartets that add their own sound to any performance.
We have sung at numerous public and private facilities in the recent past, including Schenectady's Tree Lighting and Holiday Parade, the Bethlehem Library Evening on the Green series, and the East Greenbush, Clifton Park and Guilderland Libraries. We have been featured on the Schenectady Today program and we have sung on the Center for Disabilities Telethon. The Electric City Chorus regularly performs at local memorial, veteran and patriotic programs and has sung the National Anthem or God Bless America at little league openers, the Tri-City Valley Cats Baseball and Union Hockey games. We have staged shows at Schenectady County Community College and Schenectady and Mohanasen High School auditoriums and in the further past, Proctor's theater. We have also partnered with the Schenectady County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, and our chapter supports music education in local schools, and provides scholarships for young singers to attend vocal education camps. We love to sing, and our mission is to share the joy of music with everyone.
