Fort Salem Theater will hold auditions for A Midsummer Night’s Dream this
Wednesday, August 23. All roles are open to actors of all ethnicities and
gender identities. If you are unable to attend auditions, please submit

Rehearsal for A Midsummer Night’s Dream will begin on Sunday, October 1,
2023. Rehearsals will typically be held Sundays from 6PM-10PM,
Monday-Thursday from 7PM-10PM and occasional Saturday mornings, pending the
availability of the cast and the needs of the show. However, the actual
schedule will be determined by the cast and director’s availability. A full
calendar will be provided by the first rehearsal.

Each actor will receive a minimum of two complimentary tickets. Actors who
participate in 2023 productions will also receive a free 12-month
invitation to opening weekends for all MainStage productions. At this time,
housing, travel & performance stipends are not available.

Performers are asked to prepare one of the selections available at the
button below. You may be asked to read another scene, or another character
within the same scene.

Where no age or gender is specified, all actors will be considered. The
roles of the Fairies are open to adults and children ages 8 and up.

Four lovers:
HERMIA, early to mid 20s, female presenting
LYSANDER, early to mid 20s
HELENA, early to mid 20s, female presenting
DEMETRIUS, early to mid 20s, male presenting

Athenian nobility:
THESEUS, duke of Athens, male presenting
HIPPOLYTA, queen of the Amazons, female presenting
EGEUS, parent to Hermia, 40s+
PHILOSTRATE, master of the revels to Theseus

The “Mechanicals”:
NICK BOTTOM, weaver,
PETER QUINCE, carpenter,
FRANCIS FLUTE, bellows-mender, teens to early 20s, male or nonbinary
presenting
TOM SNOUT, tinker
SNUG, joiner
ROBIN STARVELING, tailor

The Fairy Kingdom:
OBERON, king of the Fairies, male presenting
TITANIA, queen of the Fairies, female presenting
ROBIN GOODFELLOW, a “puck,” or hobgoblin, in Oberon’s service
