shop and paint shop. As the primary builder of sets, the Master Carpenter
crafts the physical world of the play. In this dual role, the individual
will work closely with and provide guidance to students involved in
production activities, promoting a safe and productive learning environment.

Master Carpenter:

   - Collaborate closely with the scenic designer to interpret and
implement design plans for the set. Act as the primary builder, crafting
   intricate sets to design specifications.
   - Plan, coordinate, and supervise the construction of sets, maintaining
   the highest standards of craftsmanship.
   - Ensure all construction and assembly processes follow established
safety procedures and regulations, maintaining a safe working environment
   for all staff and students.
   - Possess and apply rigging knowledge where necessary during set
   construction and installations.
   - Oversee the installation and dismantle of the set in the theatre.
   - Be available on-call during performances to address any set or
   rigging-related issues that may arise.

Scene Shop Supervisor:

   - Oversee the daily operations of the scene shop, ensuring efficiency,
safety, and effective use of resources.
   - Manage scene shop budgeting, track expenses, and coordinate student
work schedules to meet production timelines.
   - Hire, train, and supervise scene shop students, promoting a culture of
   learning, safety, and craftsmanship.
   - Maintain equipment, ensuring tools and machinery are in good working
   order and used safely.
   - Collaborate with the design team to ensure work aligns with the
director's vision and troubleshoot any arising issues.

Salary range: $57,380.00 - $60,249.00

*The hiring salary above represent the College's good faith estimate at the
time of posting in compliance with the Albany County Salary Transparency
Law.

Requirements:

A background screening will be required.

   - Bachelor's degree in Theatre or related field or equivalent
   professional experience.
   - Proficiency in carpentry, interpretation of design plans, and
knowledge of safety practices in a shop setting, including some level of
   rigging knowledge.
   - Experience in managing a shop, including budgeting, scheduling, and
   student supervision.
   - Must have a clean driver's license in New York State within one month
of accepting the job, and be able to drive box trucks and college
vehicles. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and
insurability at the time of appointment and must maintain such license and
insurability throughout the tenure of employment.
   - Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
   - Ability to work closely with a diverse range of individuals, including
   faculty, staff and students.

These roles involve lifting and moving heavy objects, working at heights,
