Curtain Call Theatre (Latham, NY) will be holding auditions for



*“THE REMBRANDT” *

Auditions:



·       Monday. June 19, 2023

·       7:00 PM – 9:00 PM


Location:



·       Curtain Call Theatre – 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham, NY 12110


Rehearsals:



·       Start early September 2023

·       Generally held on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings


Performances:



·       October 12-29, 2023

·       Thursday at 7:30 PM, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 PM, & Sunday at
3:00 PM

·       One Saturday matinee at 3:00 PM on October 21, 2023.


Show Description:

The play opens in a modern-day art museum, where three individuals yearn to
experience firsthand the wonder and glory of Rembrandt’s work. When a
museum guard decides to touch a famous Rembrandt painting, a remarkable
journey across the ages ensues. Spanning centuries of human experience, The
Rembrandt movingly explores the power of creative expression and the
sacrifices we make in the pursuit of love and beauty.


Available Roles:



*Actor 1 / Male Identifying / Age 50-60*



·      HENRY – Museum guard; bookish, grieving but in denial



·      REMBRANDT – the painter; brilliant, grumpy, soft-hearted



*Actor 2 / Male Identifying / Age mid 20’s (plays 13-24)*



·      DODGER – training to be a guard; subversive, tattooed seeker



·      TITUS – Rembrandt’s son; clever, loves his father, pragmatic



*Actor 3 / Female Identifying / Age early to mid 20’s*



·       MADELINE – art student; forthright, grieving, not afraid to argue



·       HENNY – Rembrandt’s partner; loving, practical, grounded



*Actor 4 / Male Identifying  / Age 30-40’s*



·      JONNY – guard; military background, carries a gun, caring in his way



·      MARTIN – Hospice care nurse; strong, knowing



*Actor 5 / Male Identifying / Age 60-70’s*



·      SIMON – Henry’s husband; a poet, an inherent grace and toughness



·      HOMER – the ancient poet; visionary, crude, crazy, brilliant
