[Capdist-auditions] Auditions for a Staged Reading of The Chosen

Auditions are announced for a staged reading of:

The Chosen: adapted by Aaron Posner and Chaim Potok from the novel by Chaim
Potok.

Directed by Dianne O’Neill.

It is the story of two boys, two fathers and two, very different Jewish
Communities ‘five blocks and world’s apart’ in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in
the 1940’s.

Reuven Malter and Danny Saunders are both passionate and intelligent young
men. When Reuven is injured by Danny during a baseball game between rival
yeshivas, a unique friendship is born.

This is a story of friendship, family and difficult choices that we must
all make on the path to understanding, respect and reconciliation.

Auditions will be held at:

Congregation  Shaara Tfille  84 Weibel Ave Saratoga Springs 12866

On Sunday May 28th 6.30-8.30


Characters:

Reuven Malter: (plays several roles) 30’s /40’s

Young Reuven Malter: a teenager

Daniel Saunders: 30’s/40’s

David Malter: 60’s Rabbi of an Orthodox yeshiva.

Reb Saunders: 60’s Rabbi of an Hasidic yeshiva.


Actors auditioning will read sides from the script.

Congregation Shaara Tfille on Sunday July 23

2.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m.


Rehearsals will be held weekday evenings(7.00-9.30)and Sunday afternoons
(4.00-7.30)beginning Sunday July 9th at Congregation Shaara Tfille.


The Chosen is presented by the Saratoga Jewish Cultural Festival through a
grant provided by the Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York and
sponsored by Congregation Shaara Tfille.
