Introduction to Burlesque with TEASY Roosevelt!
ADULTS (18+) ONLY! Owing its origins to vaudeville, modern burlesque is a
movement based performance art that pairs the tradition of theatrical
striptease with humor and satire. This class is perfect for beginners and
experienced performers alike who want to develop a signature burlesque act.
You’ll learn to brainstorm and refine your persona, create a compelling
narrative, develop stage presence, select the perfect music, costumes, and
props, and collaborate with other artists. The course culminates in a class
performance where you’ll showcase your newly developed act. While some
basic movement will be covered, the primary focus is on the creative
process behind developing your own unforgettable burlesque performance.
Embrace your creativity, unleash your inner storyteller, and let your
unique voice shine on stage! Note: The last class will be a performance on
Sunday, 11/24. Doors at 5:30pm. Show 6pm to 8pm.

5 Saturdays and 1 Sundays from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, at the Arts Center of
the Capital Region. October 19th – November 24th, 2024. (Please Note,
Sunday 11/24 will be a performance: Doors at 5:30pm. Show 6pm to 8pm.)

*Instructor: *Teasy Roosevelt has been performing burlesque for over
fifteen years and has incorporated their love of history and their
extensive comedic experience into their unique burlesque persona. They are
the producer of the American history burlesque show, Teasy Roosevelt’s
Guide to Titstory (NYC) and is a co-founder of the burlesque collective,
Pop Culture Provocateurs and God Breast America Entertainment in Albany,
NY. Teasy has performed in such festivals as the Empire Burlesque Festival,
the Midwest Nerdlesque Festival, Lebowski Fest, the Mile High Burlesque
Festival, and the Vermont Burlesque Festival to name a few. They were
voted, “2018’s Best Burlesque Performer in the Capital District” by the Alt
Weekly and awarded “Fashion Geek” at the 2022 Silver Tusk Awards. Teasy can
be found in various cities shaking their ass-sets and twirling their
tassels in a Nixon mask. God Breast America!
