Confetti Stage is excited to announce auditions for its summer production
of "William Shakespeare's Long Lost First Play (Abridged)" by Reed Martin
and Austin Tichenor, directed by Nate Beynon.
William Shakespeare’s Long Lost First Play (Abridged) is the literary holy
grail: an actual manuscript in Shakespeare’s own hand showing all his most
famous characters and familiar speeches in a brand-new story. Abridged from
100 hours to 90 minutes, in this story, an ancient grudge pits Puck (from
Midsummer) against Ariel (from The Tempest) and turns Shakespeare’s canon
upside-down, creating such strange bedfellows as Hamlet and that master
motivator Lady Macbeth, Viola and Richard III, King Lear and the Weird
Sisters, and (of course) Dromio and Juliet.
In the vein of the playwrights' other work, "The Complete Works of William
Shakespeare (Abridged)," we are seeking 3 actors of any age and gender to
play a bear, a ghost, multiple sets of twins, royals, drunks, and any
number of Shakespeare's classic characters.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. They will be held
on May 19 and 20 at the Albany Masonic Temple, 67 Corning Place, Albany, NY
12207. Sign-ins begin at 6:30, with auditions starting at 7:00. Rehearsals
will be scheduled based on cast availability.
Performances will be held at the Shaker Heritage Society at 25 Meeting
House Road, Albany, NY 12211, on August 1-3 and 7-10. Performances are at
7:30 PM on Thursday, Fridays, and Saturdays, with 2 PM Sunday matinees.
Please feel free to contact Confetti Stage at confettistageinc at gmail.com
with any questions. We'll see you there!
