Auditions for Lend Me a Tenor by Ken Ludwig
Sunday, January 5, 7-8:30 and Tuesday, January 7, 7-8:30

Show dates: Feb. 27, March 1, 2 and March 6, 8 and 9, 2025
Roles
Henry Saunders – The Cleveland Grand Opera's general manager. Father to Maggie. A blowhard who often loses his temper at the slightest mishap. 50+
Max – Saunders' long-suffering assistant and Maggie's suitor, takes the role of Pagliacci in opera when he and Saunders believe Tito is dead. Must sing opera with Tito and music. Must kiss and briefly suggest lovemaking with Maggie. LEAD. Late 20’s-30’s.
Maggie Saunders – Saunders' daughter, and Max's girlfriend. She has a great admiration for Tito. Must kiss Max and briefly simulate lovemaking with Max. Late 20’s- 30’s.
Tito Merelli – The world's most renowned opera tenor, and notorious ladies man. Must sing opera with Max and music. Must kiss and briefly simulate lovemaking with Diana. 30’s-40’s.
Maria – Tito's long-suffering wife, with an "Italian temper". Leaves Tito early in the play, but ultimately returns to him. Loves Tito, despite his philandering. 30-40’s.
Diana – The opera's ingenue soprano, who is "flinging her way" to the top. A seductive woman (and she knows it). Kisses Max. Must kiss and briefly simulate lovemaking with Tito. Late 20’s-30s.
Julia – Chairwoman of the Cleveland Opera Guild, who considers herself a "grande dame." She wears a silver dress which, Saunders says, makes her look "like the Chrysler Building <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_Building>." 50’s.
The Bellhop – A comic relief character who has an ongoing feud with Saunders. An obnoxious opera fan, the bellhop keeps showing up at the hotel suite at the wrong moment, trying to get an autograph and a photo of Tito Merelli. Sings opera but may be bad. Any age.
