SYNOPSIS: Based on Studs Terkel’sbest-selling book of interviews with American workers, “Working” paints a vividportrait of those we so often take for granted: the school teacher, the waitress, the telephone operator, the mason, themillworker, the housewife, to name just a few. Nominated for a Tony award in 1978, this production of “Working” hassince been updated for a modern age, featuring new songs by featuring songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, StephenSchwartz, Craig Carnelia, James Taylor, Micki Grant, and more.

THIS IS AN OPENAUDITION CALL:  Actors of all age, race,ethnicity, identity and body type are encouraged to audition. The show contains mature themes and language.Please be familiar with the material before auditioning. 

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE AUDITION:

Those auditioning should:

·        Be familiar with theshow and its music, language, and themes.

·        Prepare 32 bars of asong in the style of the show (contemporary musical theater).

·        Bring sheet music inthe correct keys,

·        Singers will not bepermitted to sing a cappella.

·        Eachparticipant will also read from the script.

 WHAT TO BRING TO THE AUDITION:

Please provide acurrent resume and a complete list of conflicts for the period of February 18 through April 27.  A head shot is not required.  Regarding conflicts, please remembervacations and holiday schedules before auditioning, as these may be a factor inthe casting process.

 REHEARSALS:

Rehearsals will begin the week of February 17and usually be Sun, Mon, Tues, Weds., withsome weekend rehearsals added as we get closer to opening.  Further rehearsal details will be determinedafter auditions.  

 PERFORMANCES:  *April 10-27, 2025

Performances for thisproduction run for three weeks, beginning with a Preview performance onThursday evening, April 10, 2025 at 7:30 p.m., then continuing Friday andSaturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2:00 p.m., throughApril 27, 2025.  *Please note thatthere will be NO performance on Easter Sunday, April 20.  Please also note thateveryone cast in this production MUSTbe available for every performance.

allocated as follows. Depending on the number of people at auditions theproduction may use more cast members and/ or double them in different roles.
