INTO THE WOODS

James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece... and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.

The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
One of Sondheim's most popular works, Into the Woods is a musically sophisticated classic that will be presented by GFCT in a light that nobody has ever seen. Join us for a version of this show that will reinvent the classic story you know and love.

Audition Dates:
   Friday June 20th, 2025   (6:30 PM - sign in: begins at 7:00 PM) 
   Saturday June 21st, 2025  (4:30 PM - sign in: begins at 5:00 PM) 
   You only need to attend one of these sessions.

    Please Note: Callbacks will be by invitation only and will be held on 
    Sunday June 22nd, beginning at 2:00 PM. 


Audition/Callback Location:
The Association for the Blind - 144 Ridge Street, Glens Falls NY. 

 PLEASE NOTE: Auditions will be in June to lock in casting, but rehearsals will NOT begin until Monday August 25th.

Read thru will be Monday August 25th, at St. George Orthodox Church at 7:00 PM. 

Performance Information:
Production dates are November 20th - 23rd, ONE weekend only. 
Performances begin at 8:00 PM on November 20th - 22nd, closing with a 2:00 PM matinee on November 23rd.
Production will take place at the Charles R. Wood Theater in Glens Falls, NY. 

What to prepare:

Please prepare 16 to 32 bars of a song in the style of the show. Singing from the show is also acceptable
An accompanist will be provided. Please have sheet music in the correct key
Auditions will not include any readings from the script or a dance call. Both will be reserved for callbacks
 

Rehearsals:
Rehearsals will be three days a week, and will be held on Sunday afternoons from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, and Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM 
(This is subject to change based on cast/crew availability.) ALL Rehearsals will take place at Saint George Orthodox Church
Rehearsals will begin on Monday August 25th (Read through)
Attendance is mandatory for:
Tech Week (November 16th - 19th)
All Performances (November 20th - 23rd) 
STRIKE on Sunday November 23rd after the final performance.
