*The story:* A poor yet dignified war veteran who is devoted to his
vegetable furrows in a remote South African province, Buks is anxious to
shield his dreamy, restless granddaughter Veronica from temptations beyond
the valley. She is equally anxious to be a singer in faraway Johannesburg.
Her self-made songs brim with the longings of youth, seeking the courage to
embrace the future while her grandfather searches for the wisdom to let go
of the past.

Buks (Emmett Ferris) prays for guidance from his late wife, fearing that
his beloved granddaughter (Que Sales) will flee the valley and disappear
into Johannesburg and be lost to him forever in “Valley Song.”
Aspiring singer Veronica (Que Sales) shares her youthful homemade songs for
her grandfather Buks (Emmett Ferris) and the white man who has just
purchased the farm where they work (Bill Douglas) in “Valley Song.”
