Oscar Wilde's "THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST"
Directed by Rita Russell

at the Schenectady Civic Playhouse, 12 South Church St., Schenectady
Schenectady Civic Players is proud to present the third of its free staged reading series, Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest. Many of the same cast members from SCP's most recent (1989) rendition of this classic are back in their original roles. Cristine Loffredo (Gwendolyn), Sara Melita (Cecily), Matthew G.. Moross (Lane and Merriman), and Bill Hickman (Reverend Chausable) all reprise their roles, joined by Bob Hegeman (Algernon Moncrieff), Tim Orcutt (Jack Worthing), Sue Ruscinski (Miss Prism), and Carol Jones (Lady Bracknell). The cast is directed by Rita Russell.
A light-hearted comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest is a witty romp set in turn-of-the-century England featuring puns and pointed social commentary on the foibles of high society, relationships between men and women, and society in general.
The performance is free to all and takes place at the Playhouse, 12 South Church St., Schenectady, on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at 2:30 P.M., which is a change from the originally publicized time of 4 P.M. announced earlier in the season. Still to come in the series are The Lion in Winter (directed by Laura W. Andruski, 2:30 P.M. on March 22) and The Heiress (directed by Ted Ruscinski, 4 P.M. on June 1).
Join us for our 80th Anniversary Season gift to you! No charge. Refreshments served. No reservations necessary. Just come on in.
