Press Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Albany Civic Theater is proud to present Inherit the Wind as the fourth show of our 2007-2008 season.
By Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee
He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind; and the fool shall be servant to the wise in heart. Proverbs 11, 29
A classic courtroom drama that pits against each other, two opposing and powerful beliefs - academic freedom and religious fundamentalism. Bert Cates is on trial for teaching the theory of evolution. The prosecuting attorney is Matthew Harrison Brady, three-time presidential candidate and leader of the crusade against evolution. His opponent is Henry Drummond, an attorney famous for successfully defending underdogs. Drummond makes the fight not about who is right and who is wrong, but about the privilege of free thought. Both Brady and Cates have the same right, he says: The right to be wrong!
Directed by Carol King
