CLASSIC THEATER GUILD, INC. PRESENTS "CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF" 
  
ALBANY, N.Y. – The Classic Theater Guild, Inc. ("CTG") presents Tennessee Williams’ Cat 
on a Hot Tin Roof, directed by Rachael Sheffer, this March at the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish 
Community Center in Albany. The show will be CTG’s first production of the 2009 season. 
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, written by Tennessee Williams and opened on Broadway in 1955, 
focuses on the erratic relationship between Maggie ("The Cat", Chelsea Mauger) and Brick 
Pollitt (Gregory Dodds) as well as the interaction they encounter with Brick’s family over one 
evening celebrating the birthday of patriarch "Big Daddy" (Richard Cross) at the family’s 
Mississippi estate. Throughout the evening, the family conspires to keep from Big Daddy that he 
is suffering from cancer and likely will not see another birthday. The relatives in attendance 
attempt to present themselves the most positively to get their "rightful" piece of Big Daddy’s 
wealth. 
Cat also features Diane Piegare as "Big Mama," Rob Forgett as "Gooper," and Lauren Kerr as 
"Mae." 
  
"Tennessee Williams had an amazing talent for writing real people and his treatment of Cat 
brings out the passion and intimacy of human interaction," stated Rachael Sheffer, director of 
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. 
  
Performances are scheduled to take place at the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center 
located at 340 Whitehall Road in Albany on March 14, 21, and 28 at 7:30pm; March 15, 22, and 
29 at 2:30pm; and March 19 and 26 at 7:00pm. Admission is $12.00 for Adults and $10.00 for
