The Half Moon Sails Onto Capital Rep's Stage!

As part of the NYS Quadricentennial: Hudson 400 celebration, Capital Rep's
Education Department will launch The Remarkable and Perplexing Case of Henry
H as part of their On the Go! and Student Matinee series.

Hero or Scoundrel? Victim or Villain? The English navigator Henry Hudson
remains an enigmatic figure whose persistence and determination carried him
up the Hudson River and onto the pages of history. This season, the Half
Moon and its captain will also sail onto Capital Rep's stage in an engaging
new work woven by Capital Rep artists from documents of history.

As with other Capital Rep On the Go! plays, this dramatic work about Henry
Hudson supports current NYS education curriculum. It is grounded in solid
research while telling the story of this historically enigmatic figure in a
theatrically dynamic and engaging way. The Remarkable and Perplexing Case
of Henry H is recommended for families and students, grades 4-8th.

Directing Henry H is local favorite and veteran actor/director Terry Rabine.
Mr. Rabine, producer of the Lake George Dinner Theatre, has appeared in a
number of Capital Rep shows including The Taming of the Shrew and The
Crucible. He previously directed Capital Rep's critically acclaimed On the
Go production of Friend of A Friend (2008). In discussing the play, Rabine
enthusiastically states "The Remarkable and Perplexing Case of Henry H
explores the fascinating and often contradictory assumptions about Henry
Hudson's famous voyages in search of a Northwest Passage to the Orient.
This play for young students chronicles Hudson's heroic determination, his
contributions to the exploration of the New World, and the perils to which
he subjected both his crew and the Native Americans with whom he came in
contact."

Featured in the cast are Lindsay Drew, Michael Hauschild, Stephen Pelletier,
and Brenny Rabine. J.R. Goldberg serves as production stage manager. The
cast of four portrays over a dozen characters, including many historical
figures.

Michael Hauschild returns to Capital Rep portraying Jason, a 16-year-old
student struggling to complete a homework assignment on Henry Hudson,
Captain of the Half Moon. Hauschild portrayed the Alien in An Alien's Guide
to Plant Earth and Capital Rep's 2007 International Play Festival.

As the narrator of our tale, Stephen Pelletier is thrilled to return to
Capital Rep in the role of Abucuk Prickett, a composite character and sailor
on the Half Moon and Discovery voyages. At Capital Rep, Pelletier has
participated in staged readings and performed on the main stage as an
understudy in the holiday show Greetings and as the Beggar in The Cherry
Orchard.

Lindsay Drew, has recently been seen on-stage at Capital Rep in Kreisler's
Long Sleep. She portrays, among others, Nicholas Syms, an actual sailor on
the Half Moon and Discovery, as well as First Mate Robert Juet.

Rounding out the cast is local actress Brenny Rabine who delighted Capital
Rep audiences with her antics as Catherine, the Irish serving lass in Boston
Marriage. Brenny's commendable improvisational skills come in handy as she
portrays several characters, including "Whiz" a Dutch sailor who
communicates mostly through whistles, and the Sachem's wife, lending a
Native American perspective on Master Hudson's presence in the New World.

The Remarkable and Perplexing Case of Henry H is co-authored by Capital
Rep's Producing Artistic Director Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill and Maureen
Aumand, former Education Director.
