E.B. White's enduring classic celebrates friendship, hardship, and the
transitory nature of all things; from spiders to pigs to humans. A tale of
heroism and sacrifice as the spider Charlotte uses her wit, web, and
knowledge of human foibles to save her friend Wilbur. She is even willing to
risk the future of her own children. Some Pig!

Charlotte's Web

Steamer No.10 brings E.B. White's classic of children's literature
Charlotte's Web to life in this hour long adaptation by Joseph Robinette.
This enduring classic celebrates friendship, hardship, and the transitory
nature of all things, from spiders, to pigs, to humans. Charlotte's Web is
a gentle reminder to all of us to open our eyes to the wonder and miracle
often found in the simplest of things. It is a tale of heroism and
sacrifice as the spider Charlotte uses her wit and knowledge of human
foibles to save her friend Wilbur. She is even willing to risk the future
of her own children in her effort to save her friend. Some Pig!

Charlotte's Web uses a simple set designed by Steve Bickley that creates the
homey environment of a barn on an old family farm. The costumes designed by
Maria Memole dress the characters in a way that suggests each of the animals
while allowing the imagination to complete the picture. The cast of four
professional actors brings an entourage of 16 characters to life. The
animals and their friend Fern fill the stage while the adults are all
off-stage voices that are heard in the barnyard, but they don't impose
themselves on the story of Charlotte's effort to save Wilbur.
