AREA PREMIER OF DEFIANCE. ONE WEEKEND ONLY.


Theater Voices will present the first production of its 2011-2012 season, a
staged reading of the area premier of *Defiance *by John Patrick Shanley
directed by Yvonne Perry.



Performances will be given at Steamer No. 10 Theatre, 500 Western Avenue in
Albany on Friday, October 14 at 8:00, Saturday October 15 at 3:00 and 8:00,
and Sunday October 16 at 3:00.  All performances are admission free.


DEFIANCE by John Patrick Shanley, Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning
playwright of *Doubt, *is set on a United States Marine Corps base in North
Carolina in 1971. Two officers, one black and one white, are on a collision
course over race, women and the high cost of doing the right thing. This
riveting, surprising new work is about power, love and responsibility—who
has it, who wants it and who deserves it.
