*Theater Voices Announces its 2015-2016 Season of Staged Readings*

Theater Voices has announced its program for 2015-2016, the twenty-eighth
season of presenting *admission free* staged readings to the public. All
shows will be presented at Steamer No. 10 Theater, 500 Western Avenue, in
Albany.

The first production, to be presented October 16-18, 2015, will
be *OUTSIDE MULLINGAR by John Patrick Shanley*, directed by Yvonne Perry.

A very Irish story, with a surprising depth of poetic passion,
this 2014 Tony Award Nominee for best play, is a romantic comedy that
explores the relationship between two introverted misfits straddling 40. As
their yearning for love struggles against the families’ feud over a small
piece of land, they fight their way toward solid ground and some kind of
happiness.

The second production, to be presented February 12-14, 2016,
will be *ART by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton, directed
by John Romeo*

When an art lover buys what is in essence a pure white painting
for a mind-boggling sum, his best friend can barely contain his outrage.
Yet a third friend, struggling with his own problems, gets squeezed in the
middle of their growing argument. Lines are drawn and they square off over
the canvas, putting their friendship on the line. Yasmina Reza’s
international hit won a Laurence Olivier Award, a Moliere Award and a Tony
Award for Best Play.

The third production, to be presented April 22-14, 2016
will be *THE
SHAPE OF THINGS* *by Neil Labute, directed by Patricia Bunce.*

This contemporary story of love and art, set in a Midwestern
college town, follows the unexpected romance between Evelyn, an attractive,
worldly art major, and Adam, an unsophisticated young man who has never had
much success with women. As their relationship progresses and Evelyn
strengthens her hold on Adam, his emotional and physical evolution
discomforts his closest friends, with unexpected consequences for all.

The final production, to be presented May 18-20, 2016 will be *AN
ACCIDENT by Lydia Stryk, directed by Bob Goepfert*

Recovering from a catastrophic accident that left her life
hanging in the balance, Libby is surprised by a hospital visit from Anton,
the man who struck her with his car. Their unusual relationship develops in
fits and starts as Libby fights her way back to some kind of health, and
Anton struggles to assuage his guilt. The play explores how the trauma of
this experience affects both characters, and how they are changed forever
along the way.

Theater Voices is a company of dedicated actors and directors who, since
1989, have presented both new and classic works, with the specific goal of
emphasizing the richness of the playwrights’ language. Each production is a
fully performed staged reading, but with minimal scenery and simple
performance clothes. All performances are admission free.

The group is funded in part by the City of Albany and the New York
State Council on the Arts Community Art$ Grant.
