Schenectady Civic Players, in continuous operation since 1928, announces its 88th season of five plays for 2015-2016 main stage production at its 12 South Church theater in Schenectady’s historic Stockade district.

Dracula by Steven Dietz/Directed by Jeffrey Scott,
October 16-18 & 21-25, 2015. This new adaptation restores the suspense and seduction of Bram Stoker’s classic novel. Rich with both humor and horror, this play paints a wickedly theatrical picture of Stoker’s famous vampire.

It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play by Joe Landry/Directed by Joseph Fava,
December 4-6 & 9-13, 2015. This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds one fateful Christmas Eve.

The Explorers Club by Nell Benjamin/Directed by Mark Stephens,
January 29-31 & February 3-7, 2016. London, 1879. The prestigious Explorers Club is in crisis: their acting president wants to admit a woman, and their bartender is terrible. True, this female candidate is brilliant, beautiful, and has discovered a legendary Lost City, but the decision to let in a woman could shake the very foundation of the British Empire. Grab your safety goggles for some very mad science involving deadly cobras, irate Irishmen and the occasional airship.

Measure For Measure by William Shakespeare/Directed by Aaron Holbritter,
March 11-13 & 16-20, 2016. The Duke of Vienna announces that he has been called away from the city and that he is leaving Lord Angelo to rule in his place with full authority. He disguises himself as a friar and observes the moral decay of his citizens. The play deals with issues of justice, morality, and mercy and their relationships to virtue and sin.

Clybourne Park by Bruce Norris/Directed by Chris Foster, May 6-8 & 11-15, 2016. CLYBOURNE PARK explodes in two outrageous acts set fifty years apart. Act One takes place in 1959, as white community leaders anxiously try to stop the sale of a home to a black family. Act Two is set in the same house in the present day, as the now predominantly African-American neighborhood battles to hold its ground in the face of gentrification.

Only $17 a ticket! Better yet, become a season ticket holder and subscribe for only $55 for all five shows. To subscribe call (518) 382-2081, or online at www.civicplayers.org
