Town Players of Pittsfield, the oldest theater in Berkshire County and one of the oldest non profit theaters in the country, presents "Five Women Wearing the Same Dress" by Alan Ball on Fridays and Saturdays, September 18,19,25 and 26 at 8pm and on Sundays, September 20 and 27 at 2pm at the Whitney Center for the Arts, 42 Wendell Avenue in Pittsfield.
 
 The playwright, Alan Ball, has won an Oscar for his screen writing in "American Beauty" and is also known for his television series "Six Feet Under". Directing this hilarious comedy is Kevin Paul Wixsom. 
 
    
   The play is set in the home of the bride in Knoxville, Tennessee, during the newly married couple's ostentatious wedding reception. The five reluctant bridesmaids are hiding out in an upstairs bedroom, each with her own reason to avoid the proceedings downstairs.  After the pumps come off, and as the champagne begins to flow, these five very different women discover a common bond they never expected. This funny, irreverent and touching celebration of women's spirit will make you laugh, cry, and fall in love with each of its characters.
 
 The cast includes Leah Marie Parker, as the bride's younger sister, Meredith, whose precocious rebelliousness masks a dark secret; Deb Asch, as Mindy, the cheerful, wise-cracking lesbian sister of the groom; Sheila Wood, as Francis, the painfully sweet but sheltered fundamentalist ;  Sara Clement, as Georgeanne, whose heartbreak over her own failed marriage triggers outrageous behavior; Heather Ogle, as Trisha ,a jaded beauty whose diehard cynicism about men is called into question when she meets Tripp, a charming bad boy usher played by Thomas Suski, to whom there is more than meets the eye .
