“DOUBT, A PARABLE” SUNDAY,  FEBRUARY 14
at SCHENECTADY CIVIC PLAYHOUSE

SCHENECTADY – “Doubt, A Parable” by John Patrick Shanley, and directed by Tom Templeton, will be presented as a free staged reading Sunday, February 14, at 2:30 p.m. at the Schenectady Civic Playhouse, 12 So. Church Street, in Schenectady’s historic Stockade district.  One performance only, it is part of a series celebrating Schenectady Civic Players’ 88th  season. 

In this brilliant and powerful drama, Sister Aloysius, a Bronx school principal, takes matters into her own hands when she suspects the young Father Flynn of improper relations with one of the male students.

Doubt, A Parable is a 2004 play by John Patrick Shanley. Originally staged off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club on November 23, 2004, the production transferred to the Walter Kerr Theatre on Broadway in March 2005 and closed on July 2, 2006 after 525 performances and 25 previews. The play won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play. The play was turned into an Academy Award-nominated film starring Philip Seymour Hoffman as Father Flynn and Meryl Streep as Sister Aloysius.

Civic Players and Capital area actors  featured in this production are Jennifer Bullington, Isaac Newberry, Cristine M. Loffredo and Karen Christina Jones.
