*Theater Voices *announces its program for 2016-2017, the twenty-ninth
season of *admission free *staged readings. All shows will be presented at
Steamer No. 10 Theater, 500 Western Avenue, in Albany. Performance times:
Fridays, 8pm, Saturdays, 3pm & 8pm and Sundays 3pm.




The first production*, The Birthday Party **by Harold Pinter, directed by
David Girard *will be presented on October 14-16, 2016 (Fri-Sun)

·      Stanley Webber lives in a dingy seaside boarding house run by Meg
and Petey Boles. Two sinister strangers, Goldberg and McCann, arrive on
Stanley’s birthday and turn his innocent-seeming birthday party into a
nightmare.



The second production, *2 Across*: *A New Comedy of Crosswords and Romance *

*by Jerry Mayer, directed by David Carta *will be presented on February
17-19, 2017

·      *Two strangers--a psychologist and an unemployed ad man--find
themselves alone on a San Francisco BART commuter train at 4 a.m., each
doing their own **New York Times** crossword puzzle. * *By the time they
reach their destination, it’s clear that each of them has been changed.
Even before their crosswords are solved, they find that they may have
solved the puzzles of their own lives**.*



The third production, *100 Saints You Should Know **by Kate Fodor, directed
by Michael Kennedy* will be presented on April 7-9, 2017 (Fri-Sun)

·      Theresa, estranged from her family and working as a cleaning woman,
finds herself surprised by the unexpected desire to learn how to pray.
Matthew, the priest whose rectory she cleans, is stunned and heartbroken by
the realization that he no longer knows how to talk to God. When he
disappears one day, Theresa tracks him down, and her search changes both of
their lives.



The fourth and final production of the season, *Blithe Spirit **by Noel
Coward, directed by Krysta Dennis* will be presented on May 19-21, 2017

·      Novelist Charles Condomine and his wife Ruth invite the eccentric
medium and   <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clairvoyant>clairvoyant, Madame
Arcati, to their home to conduct a séance, hoping to gather material for
his next book. But the scheme backfires when the ghost of his annoying and
temperamental first wife Elvira unexpectedly appears--visible only to
Charles. Elvira makes continual attempts to disrupt the gathering, while
Madame Arcati tries fruitlessly to make her disappear.



Theater Voices is a company of dedicated actors and directors who, since
1989, have presented both new and classic works, with the specific goal of
emphasizing the richness of the playwrights’ language. Each production is a
fully performed staged reading, but with minimal scenery and simple
performance clothes. All performances are admission free.
