*HUBBARD HALL CENTER FOR THE ARTS AND EDUCATION PRESENTS A PRESHOW
CONVERSATION FOR THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD AND PERFORMANCE BY IRISH & FOLK
FESTIVAL SENSATION THE MCKRELLS*
(Cambridge, NY November 1, 2017) Come to Hubbard Hall in Cambridge, NY
THIS SATURDAY, Nov. 4 at 11am for a Preshow Conversation with the Creator,
Director, and Cast of *The Mystery of Edwin Drood*. Hubbard Hall is
thrilled to be producing a new chamber edition of Rupert Holmes’ Tony
Award-winning *The Mystery of Edwin Drood*, opening Saturday, November 18
at Hubbard Hall. Creator Rupert Holmes has created a new version just for
Hubbard Hall, with new characters local to our area and plenty of local
references and flavor. “It’s an amazing opportunity to work with an
American Master on his masterpiece and in fact to have him rewrite parts of
it to fit the Hall is a dream come true,” says Hubbard Hall Executive and
Artistic Director David Snider. “We’re thrilled to have Rupert here and
can’t wait to share how this work came together at our Preshow Conversation
in Hubbard Hall on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 11am.” Join a discussion about
playing multiple characters, what it’s like to create a theater within a
theater, and how working with the playwright can enrich the artistic
process. It’s a wonderful opportunity to have all of your questions
answered and the event is completely FREE and open to all ages!
Also on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 7pm Kevin McKrell and his band will be
thrilling concert-goers with their unique Celtic and bluegrass sound! An
Irish and Folk Festival top-pick, we are thrilled to have him and his band
here with us at Hubbard Hall. The lineup of Kevin McKrell's high-energy
collective is a who's who of North Country Roots Music, each player a top
draw in their own right. John Kribs plays a variety of instruments while
Orion Kribs impresses with his mandolin playing. Legendary bass player
Arlin Greene (son of Smokey Greene) provides the backbone for everything
from a high-energy bluegrass stomp to one of The McKrells’ Celtic ballads.
Brian Melnick’s percussion is inspiring and Doug Moody of both The McKrells
and The Steam Donkeys provides technically complicated and emotionally
gripping fiddle playing. Kevin McKrell himself has performed throughout the
U.S., Canada, Ireland, Scotland, and Italy. His songs have been covered by
bands all over the world, including The Kingston Trio, The Fureys, Woods
Tea Company, and Hair of the Dog. With each player capable of lead singer
status, the harmony of the vocals is stunning, the energy explosive, and
each song a gem. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $15 for students
and can be purchased online, through our Box Office at 518-677-2495
<(518)%20677-2495>, or at the door.

and music and in recent years has developed into a world-class development
center for new work. Since 1977, Hubbard Hall’s current 501c3 has engaged

members in acclaimed productions ranging from world premiere musicals to
the great works of Chekhov, Shaw, Miller, and Shakespeare, amongst many
others. As a training ground for both young and seasoned artists, Hubbard
Hall continues to develop a new generation of artists and audiences while
providing opportunities for artists and audiences to take new risks and
