Theater Voices will present a weekend of FREE staged reading performances
of "The Subject Was Roses" by Frank D. Gilroy, directed by Brian Sheldon,
from April 12-14, 2019. This Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning drama
tells the story of Timmy Cleary, a young, idealistic soldier who returns
from World War II to his parents’ New York apartment to find their marriage
in shambles. Reminiscing, the family attempts to recapture the past and
return to a life that never really was. Instead, Timmy discovers that he's
left the battlefields of Europe only to become a prisoner of his parents'
war of regret and recrimination.
Performances will be held at Steamer No. 10 Theatre, 500 Western Ave.,
Albany:
Friday, April 12 at 8 pm
Saturday, April 13 at 3 pm and 8 pm
Sunday, April 14 at 3 pm
The cast features Debra Bercier as Nettie, Dennis Skiba as John and Ryan
Gillotti as Timmy. Directed by Brian Sheldon and stage managed by Jeremy
Ward.
House opens one half-hour before performance. Parking is available in the
